I'm planning a trip to vegas in the fall and I'm looking for feedback from anyone who's been there about which hotels they had good experiences at, or bad ones so I know not to stay there. It's been a number of years since I've been so I'm out of date on what's good and what's not in places to stay.

It has been a few years since I've been there also but it all depends where you want to stay position wise on the strip. When I went, I stayed at New York, New York, which was across from MGM and Excalibur; a short monorail ride would get you to Luxor and Mandalay Bay. Our original package had us in Luxor, but they "upgraded" us to NY, NY. Both are excellent places to stay. The bonus(for me at least) was that NY has the roller coaster on the roof! So, in a way I killed two birds with one stone. I don't really gamble, but still had a great time going from casino to casino and just soaking in the atmosphere and architecture(when I saw The Venetian, my jaw dropped). I hear the monorail is up and running between MGM and Circus, Circus so moving around should be easier.

That's good to know that the NY NY was good as well as the Luxor. Both are on my list to look into. I'm not much of a gambler either but enjoy the atmosphere as well. I'm not really picky about where on the strip I am or even if I'm a little bit off the strip. I just don't want to get stuck in a dump, and believe me I've been stuck in more then a few dumps with what seem to be good user reviews on trip advisor and yahoo travel lately.
