VibranceGUI is an application that automates NVIDIAs Digital Vibrance Control ("DVC") by utilizing the NVIDIA Driver API.

I'm liking this it really does make a visible difference, works well here for games, movies and just general usage with both settings at 50% as a baseline.

You don't actually need this app and can set your Digital vibrance in your nvidia control panel, Display > Adjust desktop color settings, nice, only the latest nvidia desktop cards are supported.

sounds interesting, but it looks like this laptop has an ATI radeon built in.

my dell desktop apparently does have a ge-force 210 built in... i was actually thinking about breaking that out one of these days... after i dig it out from under its pile of dust, of course.

On another adjustment I also overclocked my monitor, now it's running at 66hz. That's as far as I could push it, still 10% more frames per second is an improvement. :)

other than the gearhead high, why is that meager improvement worth killing your monitor that much sooner?

Well I'm none to sure if it will or does have any effect to the monitors lifespan, do you?

It's an electronic component, either it can run at that refresh rate or it can't and for gaming even with something like VP it is an improvement.

Oh and for the vibrancy I've found 40% to be the sweet spot for my monitor, I gather this setting can vary a lot depending on your monitor. I have a older IPS Dell 23 inch 1920x1080 monitor that is not LED driven, so the cold cathode tubes will most likely die before any other failure presents itself.

hmm... i thought you meant "overclocking" in the sense of running some of its circuitry with a higher power load. instead you're merely doing something with the refresh rate?

my understanding of electronic components and especially IC's is that they all have a certain lifespan... and that such lifespan is related to usage and load. so the more work it has to do... *shrug*


anyway for vibrancy, are you saying that the default was 0% for your card / control panel?

i'd definitely like to try it out since i run my projector almost all the time. the light and sound-blocking curtains i picked up at the thrift store make that possible now.

The default setting was indeed off or 0% as I recall, some purists actually don't like to use it as it does effect color accuracy, with color levels being artificially boosted.
