all good
there's a thread at VPForums.org about full VR or a build a cab
i know nothing about VR but i think you need some kind of VR headset which are quit expensive and a more than decent PC.
then you have the other choice of building a cab.
can someone tell me what the difference is and if VR will take away the real simulation of PB?

The difference is VR is 3D.
Regular Cabinet or Desktop modes are only rendered in 2D, with a fixed POV.
Here is a video showing VPX table in VR mode.
Funhouse...

1. ok, what about the headset.
i think i read somewhere you need a special headset and kind of expensive.
2. what about the PC?
3. do i need any devices
did i miss anything?
4. i still don't get it....your eyes are the best camera even in 2D for this when looking down at the PF in FullScreen.
you can scan around with your eyes just like the VR headset IRL.
untill i see it IRL what is the advantage?

In VR it's not an image you're looking at, but a space you're moving through. Plus each eye gets a separate image so you perceive depth naturally.

This is a bit old (VR has been improved and merged with mainline VPX since) but he looks around the table so that you can really see the depth:

that is very interesting but how much is the headset and which one is needed?
what kind of PC and accessories are needed?

For prices you can Google. But a pincab can be quite costly without the pc included too if you want all the bells and whistles. There are plans to build yourself and premade kits.

Regarding VR vs cab:
VR is VR so you'll be immersed in a 3d world. Image quality may not be 4k on most headsets but I don't have a problem with my valve index. Even on my gtx 1080 but for 140hz higher quality settings I have to use my rtx 3080.

Pincab has that fisicality of real pinball and image quality especially if you go with decent 4k monitor for the playfield screen. Its a lot harder to setup everything unless you buy premade pincabs. It also requires a lot of space to put the machine

I prefer VR everything considered but I would have both if I could though I'd probably buy a real pinball instead because nothing beats that. Though I'd be limited to one game I still think I'd go that route

ok, thanks.
i'm ok with my old school way with a 48-50class 1screen pincab and maybe get a real PB someday.
i remember standing and playing the machines for hours with $1 in quarters. 3play 25cents 5ball 10cents 1play
VR kind of takes away the real memories.

I have a 800x400mm control panel (nearly the width of a real pinball) with motion sensor capability for nudging. Bar the solenoids to feel the ball hitting stuff, it can become quite immersive (assuming the table was done with feedback in mind). And you have that amazing depth perception as well which is does it for me :)

In the end though, it simply boils down to the fact of what we can accept or prefer. As pinball was prety much gone and expensive when I was old enough to legally be in arcades, i'm just glad I can play them :)

wow, sweet.
still using a KB.
Leftshift for Lnudge, Z for left flipper---?/ for right flipper, Rightshift for Rnudge on a 48class LG 1080.
i have not gotten around to getting a kit controller for the flipper buttons and nudge control.
i prop the LG 48 up then sit in chair and use a KB until i decide on a decent USB controller.
i want to get off the KB and get some kind of a USB 3.0 controller kit for the flippers/buttons and nudge.
i'll do the nudge with the buttons.
don't need a tilt-bob. .... maybe later.
is the virtua-pin kit still being used?
***what do you full-cabbers recommend for the flippers and nudge controller for my basic 1screen
48class setup?
give me the name, a part # and the info where to get a decent contoller kit and accessories so i can
get the parts to finish my basic cab.
thanks.

I got all my HW from Ultimarc (in UK). I have never had problems. Not cheap... Especially because over the years I've updated everything but old stuff still works!

I recommend leafswitch buttons though. Will be my next update to update these to double leaf... one day :D

I use for nudging a kl25z board with pinscape software. I have a thread about analogue nudge and the kl25z board in this forum somewhere.

You mention usb3 for some reason but usb2 is more than enough (if you don't have those ports don't worry because it's retro compatible). I still have to hack a quick tilt bob but that's the easy part. I'm just lazy :D

B2S server.exe Version 2.5.0.320 How can you make the B2SDMD stay on Visible. Make it the default instead of hidden. Did new install of 10.8 final have many tables I would have to open to change to visible instead of hidden. Any help would be much appreciated.

@ejrcooney Try right clicking on backglass with mouse pointer, and you should see B2S DMD Visibility setting at top of window.
