We missed a big milestone... 25K

Yeap, we are so busy playing games, trying to please the women in our life, and generally goofing off we missed a big milestone event for Pinball Nirvana. Our membership account has gone over 25,000 members according to the widget on the front page.

Compared to other sites, that's small potatoes, but most of the history of PN before the last couple years has been to struggle to survive, I mean how many people are really into EM tables after all? Been a long hard journey, but the last couple years has been just terrfic, and this site has really come into it's own.

This is a number that is actually pretty close, we spend a lot of time making sure bots and fake registrations don't get through, we actually reject more than we let through, so not bad...

I've known so many people that have helped out here over the 18 years of PN's existence, and I miss those that have passed on, but the numbers make me very happy because it shows pinball is still coming back, that the community is stronger than ever, and that (with the average amount of people that visit PN daily) people are enjoying their time here.

Thanks to all who have been here, and those that have put in a lot of time to make this site what it is today.

Thank you guys. These numbers make all that effort worthwhile.

Congratulations on 25,000 there was a pinball arcade I used to go to and ever since then I was a fan of pinball. Me and friends would also play board games like Monopoly and D&D there is a lot of nostalgia in playing classic games. It's a good website thanks for keeping it going Shiva.

Woo Hoo Massive congrats that only a number i dream off , 25K awesome, if im honest i didn't really used PN before the days of WVP as most FP stuff was on ( cant remember the name of the site now ( old age for me )) but steve OZ and a few others made me so welcome here that ive stayed and flourished, and made new friends so hears to 30K

I remember when this site was teetering on the edge of shutting down for good. It's so pleasing to see it not only alive but thriving. I think a lot of thanks goes to shiva for creating the enthusiasm that has helped PN to flourish. There's no better place than Nirvana!

Not just me deserves thanks. Steve, The present staff, all the staff from before, and JPH for well paying for it all the last 18 years. It's a team effort, and we have had community members just pitch in and spend tens of hours doing so.

This site really has changed in the last couple years, but has never lost that friendly feel when you are here. I think the nicest people in the community come here, so it's been a real pleasure from my part.

Not to sprain my arm patting myself on the back, but when Jon managed to upgrade to XenForo and migrate the dB over, I wound up working pretty closely with him for the next ~two years, working on all kinds of frontend improvements.

I'm proud of that collaboration, and it even kind of saved me during the pandemic, giving me something daily to work on. This was when I was pretty much trapped in my apartment, with my local sports club closed.

Unfortunately, Jon and I kinda wound up driving each other crazy in the end. Collisions of vision, and that sort of thing. Still, it was a good run, and these things happen. Which brings me to Charles (@xenonph), who signed on around the time I was burning out, and has been incredibly-motivated and dedicated from the start. Among other things, it is he who did the heroically unthinkable feat of archiving the entire FP table & notes collection by hand from the mighty PSDB (PinSimDB), just before it went down permanently. (they're available here, btw)

Anyway, yeah, it's been a real pleasure working with him on a number of projects, particularly ones which I lacked the energy to completely handle on my own. (hehe, sorry if I embarrassed you there bro, but it was annoying not seeing you mentioned above)

That said, I hope Jon's okay. He evidently hasn't logged in to the frontend for over 9mos, and I'm not sure how the XF updates are going. They're not something you want to lag on indefinitely..
