Can someone please explain to me how a Gottlieb rat trap ones unit can carry over to the 10's reel with the 9 position switch OPEN?

At times when ones are being scored the 10's reel will advance when the 1's reel is NOT at 9 carrying over 10

I though the only way it could carry over is with the 9th position switch closed.
But its happening with the 9th position switch open on the ones reel.

Never came across this before

You could try unsoldering 1 of the wires from the 9th position switch, retest operation.
In conjunction with the 9th position switch, a normally open switch on the ones relay completes the circuit. Maybe 1 of the switches connecting wires is touching another wire.

As per your advice
I tried unsoldering the wires on the 9 position switch No luck

I noticed a lot of arching in the one point relay. Took it apart. Cleaned and re adjusted Did not help

I stared tapping the playfield and found the problem

The gap on one of the passive bumpers was close enough to trigger every now and then but not stick on

The machine is a Gottlieb World Fair with a cluster of pop bumpers

The vibration from the pop bumpers was just enough to trigger the passive bumper every now and then

When it’s lit , it’s worth 10 points

I am no longer scoring over 1,000 points per game. More like 600-700

I remember playing a world fair when I was a child and never having worked on one.
The spotting of the Ferris wheel cars was challenging, little did I realize how complicated of a wedge head it was with it’s huge bank and spotting unit.

It’s a real challenge to light up all the cars

I normally don’t do modifications to my machines, but this one is the exception

I ordered a wooden Ferris wheel kit with a motor

After it’s built I’m am going to light it up with LED’s

Going to wire it to special light that comes on when you light all the cars

That in turn will go to a relay which will start up the Ferris wheel when you achieve lighting all the cars

And it will be easily undone with just 2 alligator clips. Nothing permanent

Can’t wait to see how it turns out

I love hearing about people coming up with creative mods and toppers for EM machines.
A good way to add your personal touch to your completed project.
A vid of the completed lit and turning Ferris wheel would be cool if you could post it.
