This was a truly ground-breaking project by @rgade, @Steely and @rascal that offered a load of 3rd-party features to the VP app, circa 2006 - 2008. The key, shining breakthrough was the ability to play games against a live opponent, via the 'net! IIRC direct mouse input was also added, amongst other features that I'm not sure ever did make it to the VP line, even years later.
Unfortunately, vpPlus seems to have been a project that got caught (not unlike Odysseus of legend) between the scene's massive uncertainty upon whether VP was a dead project or not, late in 2006, versus only a year or two later, when there was a monumental, historical leap forward in terms of VP improvements and open access.
Indeed, if it hadn't been for the widely unexpected latter developments, vpPlus would quite likely be THE state-of-the-art 3rd-party VP app we'd all be using now. Not unlike how much the same occurred with BAM and Future Pinball. That's how significant this particular development package was, IMO.
To cut to the chase-- vpPlus is uploaded here mainly for archival & historical purposes. While it was expressly designed to work with VP6 or VP7 content, it's unknown to me whether it works with VP8 stuff, too.
If you're interested in testing whether one can still network with other people using Visual Pinball, that would probably be the main point in playing around with this package. --@Ike Savage
