Rick: unfortunately its not the type of bowling that has pins. Its a lawn bowls club - and in australia a bowling club = a venue with alcohol, gambling (pokies/slots) usually a room for functions and a bistro, as well as other recreational amenities, including the bowling greens. I've never been a lawn bowler, RH and I both are on the clubs darts team though (AND we are the b grade champs for the region this year).

I guess they are a lot like a pub, but unlike a pub you gotta be a member or a guest of one to get in.

It's a great club - I should know as I just stepped down from the possition of VP at the same agm where rh was elected in.

Thanks for the info Anthias. I don't know much about Lawn bowling. but it sounds
like it would be lots of fun to play. Darts are too hard for me. The small areas to
hit on the board just drive me Crazy.

Nice one. Bowls is a great game. Haven't played for quite a while now but used to play for the Aberavon first team using original woods. Old fella used to lend them to me for each game as I couldn't afford to buy a nice new Crystalite set.

Do they play crown green bowls at all in Australia? They don't in Wales but it used to make fascinating viewing watching televised crown bowling from the north of England where it is very popular.

Anyway, well done RH.
