another bad E-fire

Authorities are still investigating the specific cause of the fire...

Maybe started by someone leaving an E-Cigarette?:bandit:

well, another E-fire disaster from lack of education and safety with L-ion batteries.

Oh it matters when the cause of this fire is unknown and erroneously reported, when the actual cause is unknown.

well i guess we will see.
doesn't anybody find it just a little suspicious when E-bikes just happened to be at the source fire scene while charging.

1 had a non-certified cell.

I think it is suspicious to assume any of those ebikes were actually charging at the time without any proof whatsoever...

what??...the E-bikes were at the origin of the fire and probably were the source in the first paragraph of the article...
non-certified L-ion batteries are cheap clones maybe started the fire....
won't know until the investigation is done.....
i'm not against L-ion......i think a lot of problems will eventually get solved and batteries will get better.
just be aware of the possible dangers and be safe.

from google.........
It is generally recommended to charge lithium-ion batteries in a well-ventilated area, and not in a closed garage if possible, especially if the garage is attached to a living space. This is because in the rare event of a battery fire, it's safer to have it occur outside or in a detached structure rather than inside a home.
you have 3 E-bikes....are you parking and charging them in the house?

Here's a more detailed explanation:

  • Fire Risk:
Lithium-ion batteries can be a fire hazard if damaged, overcharged, or exposed to extreme temperatures. While fires are rare, they can be serious, and charging in an enclosed space like a garage increases the risk of the fire spreading.
  • Ventilation:
Charging batteries generates heat. Good ventilation helps dissipate this heat and prevents the battery from overheating.
  • Temperature:
Extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, can negatively impact battery performance and longevity. Ideally, charge batteries in a space with a stable, moderate temperature.
  • Safety Precautions:
When charging indoors, ensure the battery is on a non-flammable surface and away from anything that could catch fire.
  • Manufacturer Guidelines:
Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions for specific charging recommendations for your battery model.

In summary: While charging in a garage is not always a strict no-no, it's safer to charge lithium-ion batteries in a well-ventilated area away from living spaces, especially if you are concerned about the potential for fire or extreme temperatures.
