Anyone Know How To Contact Ash?

I was thinking about updating Ash's Knockout table to VP9 and redoing the graphics and table objects. I don't see a need to start from scratch and rewrite the whole script when there already is one and his sounds are great too. I'm not that good at scripting anyway.

I looked for a member named Ash here and at PN, but he doesn't seem to have an account at either place.

He also states in the table.... ' Please do not modify this table without the express consent of the author!!!

If this table is an IRPinball table, wouldn't you think that IRPinball could OK a mod or update? What is the purpose of IRPinball having a team releasing IRPinball tables if when one person disappears, his table becomes dormant.

I remember Ash as a real nice guy and I would of course give him top billing on the table. :)

Have you tried contacting the IRP team? They might have a way of getting in touch with Ash.

IRPinball team would be Greywolf and Popotte? I think Popotte reads this forum. I'll probably redo the table anyway for myself, it's just a matter of whether or not I can share it.

I didn't think you'd want to OK a table mod, but I consider you as Mr IRPinball.

Day 2 of my mod. :) Did I mention that I have owned this machine since 1976? I could rescript this table to be a 1 player game, but it is a 4 player game and that's beyond my scripting ability.

Can I post pics of unauthorized mods here?

My email and Ash's return email. This means that anyone can use Ash's work and Leo Wanker has already give permission for his VP tables to be used by anyone. Now we just need some interested people to work on them.

Knock yourself out... Do note that the scoring functions are actually by RipleYYY and the load save functions are by Black (they have given blanket permission for the VP community to use their code).

Also feel free to use any of the code in any of my tables. I haven't written anything for VP in years and give blanket permission for anyone to use my code or graphics for their tables or to update my tables (many of them look wrong on 16x9 monitors at high res) so long as credit is given for the original somewhere (and the tables are not sold).

Lookin' good bob, I had a look at IPDB and the lights look very ordinary, also one of the lights in the wiggly bit seems to look orange to me. I bet you still have that machine in your basement covered in boxes of comic books no doubt.

The white lights tend to have a yellowish orange look with wear (Phoenixx vs Pacdude.)

I was really surprised to see how worn looking my table was in the basement, I had only turned it on once in the last 10 years (to see if the bumper ring could be seen in action.) The basement hasn't been very nice to my machine, I thought it was in nice condition and now I would say it's in rough condition.

There are 6 more slingshots on the real table than the old VP6 table version. The lights with the star triggers are green, but turn a darker looking greenish blue with age. I'm going with a green like I remember them.

Ok fair do's Bob, they looked really orange to me on IPDB, but I guess not after all I don't want to throw a Phoexnixx at ya...what ever happened to that passionate fellow, hope his alright.

Oh an I like the look of those flippers, how you do that, it looks like you have a bevelled edge on the rubbers, duel overlay flippers perhaps? I hope that's not just a misinterpreted shadow I'm seeing. :)

Either way it's an interesting idea.

The flippers just look that way in the screenshot, it's the overhead view I use with FS tables. :) Here's a pic of the real table.

Nice shot of the real table Bob, is that a shot of your table? If so it doesn't look to be that bad at all, except for the spinners.

Oh btw are you going to do one of those "retro" 4:3 versions as well?

That pic is just one I got from the Knockout thread at VPF, I think Eala might have thrown it together. Grizz redrew a playfield from it and Noah has some nice pics of Knockout that he took. I never took any pics of mine, my playfield is OK and the spinners are OK, it's just the rubbers seem to have deteriorated and it doesn't look very good under the plastics with a flashlight, very filthy. The table was only a year old when I got it and I probably haven't played it since 1993. I turned it on and it seemed to work OK, very noisy compared to VP. :)

I plan on doing a 4x3 version, WS version and a FS version. I even plan on releasing them at the same time, sort of like a poll to see how many people download which version. I still think there are probably more people with widescreen monitors than 4x3 monitors.
