GeorgeH submitted a new resource:

Avatar (Stern, 2010) (FizX, DOFLinx) (for Cabinets and Desktop PCs) - A modification of Francisco's and SlamT1lt's version for cabinets and desktop PCs

When you play this pinball game, your spirit will go with Eywa but your body will stay behind... Be like Jake Sully, become one with the Na’vi and immerse yourself into the world of Pandora. Walk through the dream; I see you!

Just in time for the release of "Avatar: The Way of Water" in the movie theaters comes a fantastic rework of Stern's Avatar table, complete with FizX physics, in-game lighting tweaker tool, full in-game menu system and mechanical sound recordings by Fleep. The FizX...

Thanks for the update...wasn't the previous version a 2.1?

Keen to try this one out today!

AWESOME This is so good George, easily as good as any VPX version but better, love the black ray trace lighting from the ball, just shows that FP is NOT dead.
Edit found an error video enclosed : flippers fail to work after you loose the multi balls

Thank you Ian. The black ray trace lighting is called "ray tracing". The settings for it are near the beginning of the script. It is a feature that Ravarcade added to BAM. Ravarcade just published a new version of BAM and I think that JLou is already working a a new version of FizX he is naming 2.0. If it wern't for Ravarcade, we wouldn't be able to do this stuff.

I'm getting line 399 arrayc error?

did you put Avatar_script_FizXv112.vbs in the same folder as the table or at least in the FP\scripts\ folder?
Also, reset fpRAM

Sometimes things get messed with the fpRAM and you have to delete it. You can clear it out by opening the table editor. Click on "Table" and click on "Table Info". Then click on the button "Reset fpRAM file to defaults" which will delete your fpRAM file. Another method is to delete the fpRAM file for the table name saved to the fpRAM folder. It is not something that you should do regularly because it will delete any high scores you have saved.

I have studied your video and noticed you had 4 balls in play. The only way I think you might have been able to do that is to somehow start the link multiball and the amp multiball at the same time. I have tried to repeat the occurrence but can't. The best I can figure is some sort of fluke happened.

Be sure to exit the table completely every time you play the table. If you don't, you can get multiple occurrences of Future Pinball there and it messes things up.

GeorgeH updated Avatar (Stern, 2010) (FizX, DOFLinx) (for Cabinets and Desktop PCs) with a new update entry:

Avatar (Stern, 2010) (FizX, DOFLinx MX) (for Cabinets and Desktop PCs)

This update corrects the flipper angles so that the ramp is easier to hit with the new settings. (thanks go to VPGamer75 for identifying the problem; JLou5641 for the fix and AnonTet, Xenonph for testing it)

There was also an error on the DOFLinx coding such that when the left flipper was operated the right flipper would go up and never release. This has been corrected. (thanks go to Dino007 for identifying the problem and TerryRed for identifying the fix for it)

Some folks have had string...

You are probably right George a fluke, as ive tried to re recreate it myself and cant.

Great work @GeorgeH !!!
Love the movie and the table!!
Carry on.

Maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere but the custom blue ball texture doesn't seem to change/rotate much while the ball moving. Is it just me?

Thanks for all your efforts on the table.

I have noticed the 1K polygon ball slides around a little bit. It is not bad but it does slide a little. You definitely need to use the 8K polygon ball that is in the download. The download has a file named "Avatar 2.2.zip" that contains the 8K ball. This file needs to be left unzipped and saved to the same folder as the table (Avatar 2.2.fpt). If you change the name of the table, the zip file needs to be changed also, so it has the same name as the table. Only use the 1K ball if you don't have enough resources on your PC. JLou designed FizX to work with the 8K ball and he posted the 1K ball later.

I have been experimenting with the flipper bounce parameters. You might want to open the script and change these 2 parameters:

FlipperBouncingCoeff = 0.75
FlipperBouncingFallOff = 0.70

Let me know if you like it.

I'm pretty sure I'm using the 8k ball (on the loading progress screen, I do not see the Future Pinball etc. words on the screen. I think that means the zip is being used?)

Even if you just weakly shoot the ball up/down in the plunger lane, you might see what I mean about the ball rotation.

In video settings, do you have Ball Marks (dirt) turned on? Terry recommends this on for his tables.

If you see the color DMD on this table, then you are using the 8K ball unless you switched it with the 1K ball that has the file name "Avatar 1K Polygon Ball.zip" in the download.

I think it is normal for the ball on a table to slide a little bit. It happens even on real tables. You just don't see see the ball slide on a real table because the silver ball has no markings on it like custom balls do. If you haven't already, you should try TerryRed's "Halloween - Big Bloody Mike" table. It slides a little also. It has a custom ball and a standard plunger. Avatar also has a standard plunger also but I added some code that slows the pull back so you have a little more time to decide when to release the ball and have more control on how fast the ball releases. Terry's table does not have that so you have to be a little faster about when the ball releases. Several of Terry's tables have autoplungers so you can't control how fast the ball releases from the plunger.

In video settings, do you have Ball Marks (dirt) turned on? Terry recommends this on for his tables.

I do have ball marks on. Custom balls don't work correctly unless it is turned on. I guess I should have said so in my posting but didn't think about it. You might want to check out my posting on Custom Balls:

Sorry but I can't figure out how to change the blue plasma ball to silver as the default. I've tried the Spec1 key and changed table lighting modes, I went into BAM settings and I read the script from top to bottom and I can't find where I know there must be an easy switch. Thanks for the help.

Press the Special 2 key to open the menu and go to the custom ball option on the menu. Do this before the game starts. You can't change it in-game. The last half of the second video identifies how to operate the menu system if you need it.

GeorgeH, thanks for steering me in the right direction. When I pressed the Special 2 key nothing happened. So, I tried keys around the Special 2 key and the semi-colon key got me into the menu. I used the flipper buttons to get to custom ball and pressed the Special 2 key to remove the asterisk. Then I pressed ESC to get out of the menu. My selection was saved and I am now playing with a silver ball. Thanks.

You should be able to identify the Special 2 key in the FP editor. You click on "Preferences" pull down menu and then click on "Game Keys and Controls". The key to press for Special 2 is identified on the top row on the left side of the screen.

The Special 2 key is the apostrophe (which is usual) and like I said it did not do anything, When I did press the semi-colon it went into the Menu and I could navigate from there. All is good.

I can't say I have ever heard of that happening before. I changed the special keys on my PC to 9 and 0.

I am continuing to work on Avatar. I am in the process of adding FizX 2.0. While working on it, I got an idea on something that might make it so I can add the FizX tweaker. If you recall, I mentioned that I was unable to figure out how to add both the lighting and FizX tweaker to one table. Every time I tried adding the second tweaker, I would get a string error. Unfortunately, the error codes displayed on tables using BAM often reference the wrong line number. In this case, it just listed line 1 which is just a comment line in the script. Each tweaker has a lot of code so finding the problem was like looking for a needle in a haystack. I run a some code when the table starts up that loads the initial values into the StartUp field on the DMD for the tweakers. If this is not done, the initial values are "0". You will want to start your changes with the default values and then change them. It turns out that this code was running before the code for both tweakers had finished loading which was causing the error. I added a timer that delays running the code for the loading the initial values into the StartUp field which fixes it.

Long story short, I can now add more than one tweaker to one table. So, I will soon be publishing a new version of this table with FizX 2.0 and also add the FizX tweaker. Some of you have gotten the same string error I describe above when loading the current version of the table with the lighting tweaker for the first time. I think this change will fix that problem as well.

I'm getting the following error when the table has loaded:
Pinball Meditation Error
Script Error: Line 1
Type mismatch: '[string: ""]'

I've moved the three script files from the script folder to the main table's folder with the table file .../Avatar 2.2/

My BAM version is the latest one: 357
