bam refuses to start
the window appears then disappears immediately.
is this due to recent update of win 10, and preparation for the transition to win 11? (kernel.dll)
no problem before the start of the week.....!!!!!!

I am not able to interpret the BAM crash report. That would take the help of @ravarcade

I can say that I have had BAM crash when the XML for a table was messed up. All I can suggest is to try removing the XML.

when opening the program, no tables are loaded, so the problem is not with xml.
I haven't used xml for a long time (separate file).
Now it's more .conf (no?)

Does FP load without BAM?

Does FP load without BAM?
???? Of course not
the bam version is even listed on the bug report.

BAM.dll, 1.5.338.0 : 6C370000 - 6C9E7000

it works with this defector

- Small bug in script with SetColor for texture fixed.

Could you tell me what that bug was? Just trying to be sure it wasn't something I came across before, but didn't realize it was a bug.

I'm not on the latest update.... but did install 338 to test Silent Hill, and its working fine so far.

@ravarcade

I updated to latest version of Windows 10.

Using newest BAM 338 and have no crashes. Running lots of tables, including Silent Hill and RetroFlair 2 (which both use a lot of VRAM and BAM features)... and both run great.

The SetColor fix for textures.... I'm not sure what that fixed... but in Silent Hill and RF2 my wire ramps that use SetColor for the texture seems to look much nicer now. They seem to be more shiny again. :)

Also... to give you an idea... here is how much VRAM Silent Hill is using, so far, lol. I have a GTX 1080 with 8 GB VRAM. It goes from 3GB used with no table loaded, and then goes to almost 6GB with Silent Hill loaded and playing, lol!

I have not had any problems but I have noticed that version 21H1 has not installed yet on my Win10 PC and still using BAM 337. I will try 338.

I extracted the BAM.dll file from the BAM 338 zip and added it to the BAM folder. No problems though version 21H1 is not installed yet.

I downloaded BAM 338 from https://www.ravarcade.pl/download (ravarcade.pl - Download). How do you guys know when there are updates and how did you figure out there was a color fix? I could not find any notice about it here on PN.

This was related to transparency. If FP draws first object with transparency/apha and next object have SetColor used, when alpha value from previous draw was used. That was very hard to reproduce, because you don't have full control over draw order.

I tested both 20H2 & 21H1 with all updates - no errors.

In stack dump from BAM_CRASH.log there is no BAM.dll or renderingengine.dll, so i have no cluea where is problem.

Error code: DBG_PRINTEXCEPTION_WIDE_C (0x40010006) is exception throw by OutputDebugString function. I see no reason why this occurs.

Here is articel about using this exception to prevent debuging of commercial programs:
FP or BAM will nevere do this.

trad google
not serious.
a process had to be in the background, and thwarted the launch of fp, in a temporary way.
as it is set, everything works nickel.
I'll try again later.
otherwise how to optimize window for a use dedicated only to the virtual pinball?
there is a slew of default services, that's awesome, which ones are unnecessary and can be removed?

I have never gotten BAM to work ever, with Future Pinball. Always a table crash after loading. The only thing left for me is to live chat with someone who can help with every attempt I make and every small change that winds up in a crash. And I do not want to bother anyone. I chalk it up to old intel graphics on windows 7 all in one pc from 2011.

It is most likely that your PC and onboard Intel GPU is the issue. BAM uses a new modern Renderer that your GPU / driver may not properly support. It's common on many new PC games as well. Be sure you have your system completely up to date with these as well.

I did notice that sometimes if I used a SetColour for a texture (before 338) that sometimes a texture would simply be either invisible, or completely black or completely white. These textures also used pup plug-in texture swap, so I wasn't sure if I was doing something that simply wouldn't work with that combination on certain objects, etc. I'll have to see if it does it now with 338.

lower your graphics, disable almost everything and start there.
mine used to crash when i tried to max everything out.
what gpu and cpu are you using.
i got it to run on a i5 dual core with intel hd4600 pretty well.
its a minipc for a mini bartop babinet

also install it into your fp directory. it will create your bam folder.
always use fploader to run fp.

Hi everyone,
are there any disadvantages putting "FPLoader.exe" compatibility mode win 7? it's the only way for me to make it work
I'm on 20H2 update and visual c++ redistributable runtimes all-in-one as well

BAM_CRASH.log attached

thx

@AnonTet runs "FPLoader.exe" in compatibility mode win 7.

Actually, Win8

/edit
I'm running win11.

If I don't use the compatibility mode, FPloader can't even start 9 out of 10 times!

Im on same win10, its not FPloader, its futurepinball.exe
I only set futurepinball.exe to run compatable win 8, I did nothing with fploader and it hasnt crashed once sense. (for me anyways)

NOW you may need compatability on fploader with win 11 ? dont know, dont want win11.

In win10 I never needed to run anything on compatibility mode.

BUT I do recall that some problems were solved by running as Administrator... @TerryRed BAM+FP install guide maybe?

Side note: As far as I know FPLoader calls FuturePinball.exe, hence the name. running one or the other as Admin or compatibility mode it's all the same if you ask me.
