The only place I see is possibly above the plastic below the upper left flipper. If you place it there however, you might not be able to see the flipper.
You are right that turning the glow off on the bumper would do the same thing as turning off the light. The light has to go though the bumper for it to be illuminated.
I asked Rav once a while back to be able to turn off glow through objects but he said no. ...So I am out of ideas.
