Gottlieb Big Indian (Gottlieb, 1974) Proper way to support backglass

Starting my EM pinball repair experience with a Gottlieb Big Indian - so far, so good! The backglass was removed when I bought the game, and when I went to re-install it, I noticed the metal supports (tabs?) had some foam on them at one point, but tje foam is completely degraded and crumbling. I can remove/clean these, but I cannot find any references to what to use to replace the foam on these backglass support tabs; maybe they aren't supposed to have anything on them? Any advice welcome - thanks.

They hold the backglass from vibrating back and forth. Typically they are in the corner of the backglass, or on the wood behind the backglass. All they do is insulate the backglass, so just clean off the old foam, and stick some new foam pieces in there.

the brackets are to keep the backglass from following the head panel when it is unlatched and lowered for changing bulbs. when the head panel is latched back in place it will push the backglass back in place

Ok - so where do I get new foam? Beer foam (which I have)? How thick? Thx.

Just put any foam in there to keep the backglass fitting snugly. Ever shook a game and had the backglass "rock"? That's all you're trying to prevent.

You can get rolls of insulating adhesive backed foam at the hardware store. It is sold for insulating doors and windows. If necessary you could build up layers as it is about 3/16in. thick by 1/2in. wide.
