Hi. I’m 57 and have minor health issues I take meds for, but I was wondering if anyone knows if any vp table creators/recreators that were fairly well known have passed on since vp first came out back around 2000? I did recreations till like 2003. A slew. Also, any regular nice guys that were fairly well known in the community? Just nice folks. Chat contributes, etc?

I hope everyone who knew me back in the day are both healthy and happy!!!

Hello Duglis! Glad to see you posting here.

Amazingly, I am 50.

I too am on two blood pressure medications and cholesterol pills. I am now on inhalers for serious COPD and have to use those every four hours. My court date for disability comes on November 4th since I walk to the left with a cane, am dizzy and have a very crooked "gait" as my doctor calls it. Without my cane I would fall left and onto the ground. I also have a walker too but use that at home as it's a bit embarrassing.

In 2019 my blood pressure was over 200 and my doctor told me "you should be dead". I had to laugh as I was sitting in the office with my last doctor (not my new one who is a REAL DOCTOR) and looked him square in the eye when he told me that. "Well here I am I suppose" I said to him.

Anyway my health issues have kept me from releasing stuff for VPX for the last three months. Kind of sucks but that's how it goes. I AM working on more tables but these are a bit more complicated since they are super rare. I figure if I take my time and to it right no matter how slow they will come out nice ;) Yeah no matter how many times I TRY to leave VP is always finds me again and I love it. Randy Davis KNEW what he was doling when he made Visual Pinball.

Nice to see you're around. I remember numerous folks like Starman, Warrior, Kinsey, Plumb, Mr. Fixx, Destruk (who I believe is still at VPF) and quite a few others. Tiltjlp and I had a falling out years ago and I do miss him but I believe he is gone. Kinsey is gone as well. I don't know of any others who are gone really but I'm sure I missed a few. I've MET Russ Jensen (RIP), Plumb and Fixx in person.

I do miss the "ole days" as VP was in it's infancy but we had such terrible images to work with. Now a days folks just redraw it all as long as they have a decent photo they can use to reference from. It's kind of fun actually.

Look forward to seeing more posts from you. Nice to see you again.

Yeap, I've listed a few folks here:

With a little detective work, I'm sure a few more could be discovered.

There's also the thread below, pics of people still around:

Thanks for the update. I talked to Kinsey a little, but spoke a lot to tiltjp and miss him a lot as well. I had the most talks and also saw Russ Jensen, the collector. I made 2 personal tables for him. Miss him too. Yeah, I wonder about Plumb and Mr Fixx and Jay Phillips.

Yeah, I haven't heard from those guys in many years. Jay's chatroom is no longer operational, but you might have some luck dropping by the "Big Bang Bar" discord chat room.

I used to keep up with Fixx's, Plumb's and Jay's buddy "Kid Charlemagne," who moved on to IRC, running a comics collecting group.

People in the scene also used to use Trillian to keep in touch via IM's. Destruk, Lio, Bublehead and many others. If you fire that up with your old ID's, you might run in to more people.

It was a LONG TIME AGO when I first met Plumb and Mr. Fixx and remember "Fixxy" was wheelchair bound due to an accident with a rig. I can't even recall who told me about it but I did ask Fixx himself and he said he was in a pretty bad accident. Plumb was the guy who helped me at the time during VP 1 through 5 with some graphical work since I couldn't figure it out until I got a hold of GIMP.

I met Russ Jensen at the Chicago expo when it was near the airport. Very kind and VERY informative guy who knew just about everything dealing with pre war pinball machines. I also met Mark Weyna there who worked for Bally for around 30 some years and that guy had a basement FULL of machines dating back from the late 1800's up to the 70's. I got to play quite a few of those machines and thanks to him even got quite a few playfield images.

Since I can now redraw pretty much any playfield I want that's now what I do as long as I have a photo of a machine. No matter the angle I can pretty much now make those oldies close to what they were graphically. Wish I could have done this back during VP 1 through 5 because I remember most of the images we all had were atrocious but we made them work. That was a feat in itself.

The last pinball app I made was for the Apple Watch. I recreated several of my favorite tables. It uses a paddle instead of flippers. You control it with the crown.

Jay Phillips (Gottlieb) still lives :)
nicolas.b, too! :D

What about Fixx, Plumb, DesAngel, and KidC? Do you have any contact with them anymore?

Cool stuff, Jay!

You know I always liked the Cutie Q concept. I wish more digital paddle pinball games had been made (that didn't suck, heh).

Would also be pretty wild to see a working physical model (like was made for Pong), although I suppose the wear and tear on the paddle would be fairly brutal, assuming proper-sloped machine and real objects / physics.

Good gosh, he really was a gem.
I researched Jeff a bit more, and just... dang... what a guy.

The cause is not clarified, far as I can tell, but I'm guessing either cancer or CV19.
