Bally Creature from the Black Lagoon (Bally, 1992) Creature Settings won't save....Help!

I have two Bally machines, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Black Rose. I recently replaced batteries in both machines and attempted to adjust all the settings back to what I had them at. After each setting adj. it say's that each has been saved. When the machine gets turned off, and then back on, I get the display saying all the factory settings have been reset!

Why is it not saving my settings?....What am I doing wrong?

I'm somewhat new to this whole thing....Am I missing something? The batteries are in the correct direction, and brand new right out of the box.

Please help!

Is it on both machines or just Creature? It could be a bad battery holder. I usually install a remote battery holder as seen in the picture. It will prevent damage to the MPU board in case of a battery leak. This picture shows a four battery holder with 3 batteries installed and a diode accross the fourth battery position. A diode is not need on WPC machines. and you can use a jumper wire instead if you can not find a 3 battery holder. DO NOT INSTALL 4 BATTERIES. YOU WILL DAMAGE THE BOARD!
