cyclone (FP)

@AnonTet,
Could you reattach those as either PNG's or 95% JPG's?

We've been having some slight issues with site-loading speed (~bandwidth) and up/down limits the past month, so putting those in a more efficient format couldn't hurt.

Thank you!

Forgot to put the PF's here.

I won't attach the table and the updates I did (really quick) because I need to ask permission before I do that.

What you need to do is open the table, go to "Table" Menu, "Texture Manager" and import this files.

Then click an empty space on playfield and on the right side go to "Playfield Image" and select one of these.

You need to disable layer 2 to click on the playfield, otherwise you'll choose the backwall model.
on what cyclone build should I put these on or it doesn't matter?

Regarding VPX version, was this the one you mentioned above: VPX Cyclone

The original was BMP so I saved as BMP. I can convert to jpg of course and png I think is not accepted by FP...

Is the conversion to JPG from BMP good enough?

Accuracy has a cure :D I can aim wherever I want now.

Making black playfield is easy (in this case). As for the rest, music, and graphics, backwall changes, multiball and whatnot is for someone else. I don't have the time, sorry.

About back wall you can chose another texture. Select only Layer 2, click anywhere, and on the right side choose !BGReflect

I do prefer tables closer to real counterparts so I'm not motivated to do such changes
where do i find disable layer 2?

JPG loses a slight richness of color sometimes, but that shouldn't really matter for this table. JPG 95% is a nice compromise between highest-detail and good quality IME.

Otherwise, PNG is an Internet-standard, compressed lossless format, so they can convert it from that format to BMP or whatever they need using built-in system tools.

In FP editor you have numbers on the left side. Those enable/disable the layers as you click them

iv'e unticked 2 but am not able to input your file in texture manager?

@Isaac Sauvage
bmp, png and jpg files. Added one more version :)

@fourbanks

I'm assuming you were able to import them. So, just click an empty space on the playfield. The you can change teh texture on the right side. Click the drop down menu and look for the name of the texture you want; example: cyplayfield_Hi_Dark

I've added one more dark version in the attached .zip in this post In case you want to try that. The difference is in the clown on the lower side

i cant import them either on texture manager and they are not showing on texture preview

You have to import them first.

Go to Table - texture manager - click import - go to the directory where you saved the textures. Then you can see them as choice to use in "playfiled image" (on the right side of the editor; you can only see this with Layer 2 disabled)

nothing at all showing up Layer 2 disabled) click import nothing showing up at all

to import you need to use FP menus like I explained above.

Then navigate the windows explorer windows that show up like a normal windows explorer window to go to the folder where you saved the textures.

then you worry about disable layer2 and choosing one of the textures.

i will have to leave that for the time being as that's not working for me :(

I'm still working on it but may take some time to work it out. i know it's very basic to work out but for some reason, those attachments are not showing up in the playfield whatever the setting are

You need to have the Editor settings set to "Load Images into Editor", then close and restart FP. (this is needed to see "any" texture in Texture Manager or in the editor)

Then after table is loaded, you need to be sure you haven't selected anything (or click into an area that didn't have anything to select). you may need to disable all layers to make it easier. Then you can change the texture for the playfield on the right side (it should say TABLE on the top right).

Some older tables (before we started BAM'ing them) may have fake playfield surfaces added that may block the playfield image, etc. For example... I used SLAM's Ultimate version of Sonic to start with for Sonic Pinball Mania, and I ended up removing almost everything he did on the table (fake surfaces, light - dark surfaces, extra bulbs no longer needed... stuff not needed for a BAM version). I only kept his code / sound / music.

Just remember that FP may crash with "Load images into Editor" with more demanding tables that have lots more textures,etc so don't forget to change it back when done with making a table,etc.

To change playfield textures that's not needed, not on this table anyway.

I told him to disable layer 2 otherwise clicking anywhere would select backwall model instead of the playfield.

But once you select the playfield, on the right you can choose its image (if it is imported)

On that, here are the .jpgs @fourbanks

Somehow I think you are trying to import .png files. that I will delete from all previous posts.

Yes, FP will only support TGA, JPG, BMP.

Note, that some apps format files (TGA, JPG, BMP) in a way that FP may not agree with. If in doubt... open your image in Windows Image viewer, then rotate it back and forth. Then close it. This will save the file (because it sees you rotating as a "change") in a more efficient and friendly format that FP should have no issue with.

Top tip I wasn't aware of!

It was a quick dirty job to help him out on having a black playfield.

I ended up c&p DFv2 onto it locally though :D

Just to be clear, I'd still recommend the PNG format for sharing. It's an excellent lossless, compressible format useful for many applications. Converting it to format-of-choice should also be child's play for most users, and if they have an issue with that, they can always ask.

Then there's JPG's, which at high-quality lose very little detail in many cases, so can also be good to use when possible.

And, maybe helpful to remember that the reason vanilla FP is stuck with the formats above is because it's ooold.

Putting these things in to practice helps the site's storage limits and bandwidth a bit, so thank you!

In this particular case I just though it was easier to help him.

thanks, terry. i hadn't ticked the box to load images :bonk:

all now sorted thanks. as for the music hopefully, someone will now take that on and adjust the accuracy and strength of the flippers as they are out for some reason?
