Decisions, Decisions. Quest 3 or LG C4

Well, who would have thought but prices have dropped down up here in mooseland for electronics (more than likely to clear out older inventory due to tariffs) but suddenly, 2 main items I have been eyeing just dropped down below US prices. Problem is I can only buy 1...

I came to a very bad realization that the monitor I have here just really sucks, and it's time to replace it. A 42 inch LG C4 for 770 dollars (cdn)? Please...

And then there's the meta quest3 (plus a headstrap like the kiwi or Bobovr s3) which would end up pretty much the same price.

So, I can only get one, but having a hell of a time deciding. I need a better display, I would be using my computer. My son is lusting after the meta, but I'm not a gamer. Is it really worth getting a quest when I can get a frigging C4?

I wish...

We made a deal. I did buy the quest 3, got the kiwi headstrap and face shield as well. In return, down the road, the kid adds a bit of his money and we get a bigger screen to replace our TV as ours just sucks. I can use my older ultrawide if I need better than the 4k I have already.
I found my eye sight was a bit blurry and my son complains about headaches with the strap, so this should fix that.

Anyway, been watching videos etc, and seem to have good settings and it's starting to look real good. After I'm finished and get the strap, then comes the fun part, getting vpx and fp in there. Doesn't look too complicated. Biggest problem is meta software and their insane way of doing things. Also, the prices on things, as I may need to replace my keyboard as my apex pro is wired and not bluetooth. Of course I have never used VR before so there's lots to learn still.

It's a pretty new experience to say the least.

For FP in VR... I'd recommend installing my latest "FP and BAM Essentials AIO" to make your life much easier.

Then:

- run "BAM settings - VR - Reset and Install.bat"

This will copy VR settings files and setup BAM VR for you. If having ANY problem, re-run this file with FP closed first


To play FP in VR:

- run "Start FP - VR.bat" only if using SteamVR
- run "Start FP - VR-OC.bat" if using the Meta Link App (link cable or wireless) or Virtual Desktop App (wireless only, unless using an ethernet to usb c adapter to tether)

Both of those files disable FP's reflections by default. It can be very demanding in VR if your PC is not fast enough. If you have a very fast PC, then you can try enabling it in the file you use (be sure it runs smooth in VR with it disabled first).


My BAM-Open VR Guide (included with the install) has the latest updated info compared to my video guide... so read the written guide. It will save you lots of time trying to understand some of the basics with FP-BAM in VR.
