My goal is to bring new interest to the scene. It's great to have some long-time members, but that is simply not enough.
One by one, they will ride off into the sunset, leaving a ghost town in their wake.
New and contributing members are what's needed, in my opinion, for the interest in VP to flourish again. It's only natural for the energy to wane after being active and involved for a lengthy time. Especially when there is nothing new for long-timers to be had. It's like watching the same movie over and over again. The newness and excitement is great the first time you see it, but it gets old eventually.
New and fresh is what the community's needed for some time. I've been around since '05, and that may not be long enough for some of you to consider me qualified, but the decline in interest and cooperation was evident from my first days. The way noob questions were met was abhorrent and the scene was simply to "cliquie". My hope is that a new site with a new approach will accomplish a renewed vigor in the scene.
That's why I created a site. If it was just to run one, I could have just focused on the five others I already spend way too much time on.
My only wish now is that those harboring ill feelings can get past them and work together to ensure a future for VP.
I find it crazy that once an argument begins, every subsequent post thereafter is perceived as a jab or insult. Even in other, non-related topics! The recent exchange between Shiva and I comes to mind. There was nothing heated or angry about either of our posts, yet others felt they had to interject as though there was a problem. It just seems to snowball from there most of the time. Our private correspondence proves quite the contrary.
...Oh, and not be so judgmental of others when you haven't a clue who anyone truly is, that would be nice, too. :)
