Do You Have a Favorite NES Tune or Soundtrack?

Well you know, I woke up with a song in my head from the SNES game Shadowrun and I have to wonder if I am the only one who still enjoys video game music.

I thought I'd start with the NES; the original 8-bit Nintendo system.

Well the only NES track I recall is Wonder Boy, liked that game. :)

That said I do have an extensive SNES collection and have listened to many of them, though mainly for the purpose of ripping them to .mp3 for backing tracks for the few VP tables I have made.

Check this site out, the SNES really seemed to me to have the best video game music.

I agree StevOz. The more the game tracks became ordinary orchestral tracks, moving away from synthesis and imagination and limitations, the more irrelevant they became to listen to.

I still prefer the late 70's-80's pinball sounds in general.

there were a couple on NES i liked, such as the sweet intro from a game that was essentially a remake of spindizzy... which was itself heavily based on marble madness. (did the elusive MM2 ever get ripped to ROM?)

destiny of an emperor also had a couple cute songs inspired by traditional chinese music.

commodore 64 tunes was/were the pinnacle, though. musicians today are still releasing albums of nothing but C64 remakes!

Zelda Ocarina of Time is a pleasant listen

but I tend to like the tunes from the Playstation One

and my personal fave of a game for my ears anyway
is Final fantasy Tactics
the game even had an option to use surround sound
not too many games of that time did that
