Bally Solved Eight Ball Champ (Bally, 1985) scoring problems

About 15 minutes after turning on the power to my Eight Ball Champ the right flippers cause 3000 pts (or a multiple there of) to be registered. The right flipper is a double flipper and when initially depressed the flippers react but not the scoring problems. Upon depressing completely the second part of the switch is activated and the problems begin. Again, this problem only developes after warming up about 15 minutes. Any suggestions on where to begin?

with the machine warmed up, put the machine in self test switch test mode to find a code for the playfield switch that is causing the problem. playfield vibration may be needed to find problem.

Did the test and the "H" lane (18) shows as the stuck switch only when the flipper is depressed. Visually everything looks ok. Will look into it further and let you know what happens.

That second switch of right flipper button is for "Lane Change" function. Check the diode that is in series with that switch. The diode could be breaking down as the game warms up. Maybe try a clip lead across that diode and see if this replicates your scoring problem when the button is pressed.

I am looking at your schematic. It shows a diode in series with that switch. That diode most likely prevents that switch from interacting with others in the switch matrix. As for location I can't be sure . If there is a diode wired in line at the switch it is probably the one. If it is wired across the switch look elsewhere....C_S

Solution: Disconnected the lane switch on the flipper switch. Cant use the lane switch function anymore but I rarely used it anyway. Game works perfect otherwise. Think I'll leave well enough alone, enjoy playing again, and wait for begger problems.

That is my kind-a-workaround...But...I think I'd have to check that diode, eventually.
