I can't figure out why I'm missing (not hearing) almost all of the speech. I hear "prepare for mission" and, if using multiplayer, "player X stand by", when I press start, but the only other speech I ever hear is the "blast off" if I happen to start mutliball. I don't hear - blast, off, first stage go, second stage go, all systems go commence countdown, etc. I don't know if this helps, but I can manually play the different speech sounds through the table editor's music manager, but I don't hear them during gameplay.

Also, I hear the spinner and lane sounds when I start game, but they eventually stop playing. I haven't been able to figure out what specifically causes them to stop playing. It's not simply a set amount of time. That's both spinners and all the lanes (L/A/S/T, the 4 return lanes, and both outlanes). I'm fairly sure those aren't the only 2 sounds that stop playing - I think another one is the center lane stand-up. Those sounds do not return when starting a new game. I have to exit and reload to get them back, though they just stop playing again.

Lastly, the issue with the stage lane. Every time I get a 2nd ball into the lane, when the 1st ball drops down, the 2nd one drops right above it instead of being separated by the ball walker "peg". So, if I get a 3rd ball in there without enabling multiball, both the 1st & 2nd balls are kicked onto the playfield and when one of them reaches the outhole, the bonus collects, the game moves to the next ball/player and kicks a ball into the shooter lane - even while the other ball is still in play.

After seeing this happen over-and-over, even after restarting everything, I tried reducing the table slope from 8 to 6 and the 2 balls would be properly separated in the stage lane every time.

I'm playing desktop and don't get any script errors when loading the table. I have the latest version of BAM and run using FPLoader.exe. I've been playing a lot of the other NitroNimbus MOD BAM tables that were submitted at the same time as this table and I haven't noticed issues with those.

Hopefully, I won't have to slap my forehead too hard when I find out what I forgot to do. I freely admit I'm a n00b when it comes to FP and virtual pinball, in general. I tried very hard to follow TerryRed's mega guide!

Thanks.

Update: I managed to get it to work. I freely admit that I know nothing about script, so my "caveman" troubleshooting process was checking the script language for what covered sounds I did hear and sounds I did not hear. I noticed all the sounds I wasn't hearing used SPEAK, so I tried using PlaySound, but that didn't work correctly, so I tried PlayMusic and that did work. I had to do some fine-tuning with PlayMusic since it seems like there's some sort of prioritization system as far as playing sound/music/etc, but I guess I figured it out.

End result is that after playing many times, it appears I can hear all the speech sounds AND I'm no longer losing the other sounds. I'm still puzzled since I looked at the script for other Flight 2000 FP tables and they look almost identical, but don't present the same symptoms.

You might make sure you have Vertical Sync checked in the FP editor options.

I don't use v-sync in an in any piece of software for... a long time now. I let the drivers handle that and I also use the drivers to lock the frames at monitor refresh rate - 3 (example: 60Hz -3 means lock FPS to 57).

Well, al least with g-sync (and freesync monitors even if you have nvidia) it seems to be the recommended way of doing it and I for one can't complain. No tear, no visible lag, smooth scrolling. I do this wiht a g-sync 240Hz monitor and 144Hz Freesync monitor.

I use nvidia exclusively so don't ask about AMD

I have to admit that I thought these 2 replies were from a different topic since I didn't think V-Sync would be related to the issues I was having with either the sounds or the stage lane. On the chance I am incorrect, I can say that V-Sync is enabled on both systems where I have FP installed and was seeing the same behavior for this Flight 2000 table - one laptop and one desktop.

It was just a shot in the dark. Very strange problems tend to be caused by not having V-Sync checked.

Ah, I see. I do appreciate the input. Thanks.

Do you have this installed on a cabinet? I just tried it on my PC and did not have any problems but do not have any front end programs installed. You might try pressing the the Home and Page Up keys on your keyboard while playing a game to be sure both volumes are up. That is all I can think of.

Note that the author place several script files in the scripts folder in the download but the only one you need is the rolling ball sounds.

Negative on a cabinet. I have FP on both my "gaming" laptop and my single screen desktop PC with no front end on either. Both the music and sound volumes are turned up on both. I had noticed that the author included the same set of scripts in almost all of his MOD BAM packets, so I wasn't over-writing what I already had if they were the same files.

I lost count of how many times I d/l'd it - and I just did it again a little while ago. I've tried having the .fpt in the standard ...Future Pinball/Tables folder and tried moving it in a subfolder and even tried putting the scripts in that subfolder just to see what would happen. It made no difference.

One thing I finally did figure out was what would trigger the sudden loss of the other sounds (lanes, spinners, drop targets, etc). After starting a game, if I do anything that triggers a "Speak = ..." sound in the script, not only does it not play that sound, I also lose those other sounds. I did notice that those other lost sounds also have something in common - they ALL use "Channel = 2: Sounds = ...." script language. So, once I lose those sounds, the only things I hear are the flippers, bumpers, slingshots, and the rolling ball. Oh, and the background music.

It's so weird that I seem to be only one that had this issue. As mentioned, those other Flight2000 FP tables are okay on my 2 setups. Although those others aren't BAM mod'd, I hesitate to point my finger at the BAM portion of the script, since I don't have any issues with any of the other BAM FP tables from the same author.

Again, thanks for the input.

In a .vpx version of Flight2000, I had to turn on the game rom talking in the F6 key settings.

I noticed that the Special 1 key is coded for some sort of change to the music but it doesn't seem to do much for me. Special 2 is supposed to change the view somehow but it doesn't do much either.
