I have figured out most of the problems on this machine, I am just getting a little confused with these schematics. What actuates the ball count to go from 0 to 1 position. For whatever reason everything seems to be working except making it advance. If I manually actuate the solinoid to go from 0 to 1 it then counts 1-5 with each ball as it should. I am also unsure if there is a 6th position for game over after the 5 or does it go back to 0 position after the 5th ball goes through the outlet hole.

the ball count step up solenoid is controlled by the 1st ball latch in relay, last ball latch in relay, trough switch, score motor switch, 3 or 5 ball adj. jack, and there might be others. the ball count reset solenoid pulls in on game reset only. if you can post a pic of the ball count step up circuit switches and list each relay letter and what the relay is called for that circuit would be helpfull to help continue your repair.

I ended up finding out why it wasnt finishing the startup, the leaf switches for the reset bank were rubbing the side of the arm so it wouldnt actually reset completely. now i have 2 more problems that i didnt know if you guys could help me with, after game 5 it keeps shooting out the ball, and also when there are no more credits it still resets and feeds out balls and starts a new game. leaf switches on the credit count seem correct

do you mean after ball 5 instead of game 5? the machine does not go to game over? on ball 5 is the last ball latch in relay pulled in? has the ball count rivet disc had the rivets cleaned ? does the ball count wiper disc have all its braided wires in place ? does the ball count unit advance and reset work correctly every time ? does the 3 /5 ball adj. plug have any wires off or bad connections? check operation in 3 ball play see if any change of problem.

yes after ball 5, it does not go into game over. i cleaned the the rivits and all of the wires are in place. it advances correctly everytime and when i switched to 3 ball adj it still went to ball 5. no bad connections that i could find. i cannot seem to find a last ball latch relay to find if it is pulled in. the game over relay does not pull in if thats the same

what are the names of the relays in the latch-in bank behind the ball count unit ?

Two contacts going in to the ball counter , position 3&4 are jumped together ... Like wise Ball 3 and 4 position contacts that leave the unit are jumped together. That causes the unit to advance to ball 5 position when the game is set to 3 balls. That is all there is to the 3 or 5 balls setting...When the last ball drains the the unit advances to #6 position. The circuit that advances the ball counter to #6> Power goes to add ball coil on ball counter> Thru Trough switch>Thru score motor 1C contacts >thru n.c. contacts on V -reset completed relay>thru score motor contacts 2B> then I think the circuit goes thru contacts on ball counter at #6 position, then those contact open when the ball counter actually makes it to #6 position.{Those contacts* also de-energize many other circuits shown above ball counter unit coils circuits} Also game over lamp is lit by another set contacts at #6 position{these contacts also send power to match unit.}

*These contacts are drawn vertically at the right side of schematic and act to break the return path of many things up the ladder, shutting off all that stuff at the end of a game .
P>S> I hope this is how your game is wired as this is based on a similar schematic...C_S
