And here is a flashback from Aug. 7, 1965; the KRLA Beat. This was a free Top 40 newspaper from Eubank's station. It mentions (somewhere) "Scuzzy Ice Cream".
Scroll through and enjoy the pics, but for a real good time, scroll to the bottom to read the Top 40 list of hits for Aug. 7, 1965 and tell me how the Hell you can beat that list?
I probably once owned a copy of this very same issue, reading it and thumbing it religiously in the back seat of the family car after picking it up at the supermarket distro point. And Please Remember to ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM.

That was one amazing trip back in time, Arne! Christ on a cracker, what group didn't they include in that issue? I guess the most noticeable absence would be the Beach Boys. Ah, but they managed to crawl into the top 40 with "California Girls". That song won't go anywhere. And look at that lineup of Brylcreamed white guys on the air! When Casey Kasem is your only choice for "token minority" it's time to start thinking outside the box. What's really strange is how this has become a Thread of Infants. Steve posted that Dylan song that aired when he was three months old. This issue came out on my two-month celebration.
For more countdown hijinx, Radio Rick at TopShelf Oldies does a Hometown Countdown show every Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 5PM, utilizing a 50s/60s list from a different station each week. It's pretty fun to listen to. I mean, when's the last time you heard the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in a radio countdown show?
