George Martin, 1926 - 2016

alright, thanks.

consider me edumacated a bit better. and just to be clear-- fuck you and your pitiful opinions about george martin.

also, i really think you should be wearing a dress on days like these. it would certainly be a more consistent look for you. :)

Oh fuck... seriously, am I on her cycle? Because...
Well, I guess the good news is you're only the "family mule" for 2.7 more days if my calculations are correct.

ruh roh!

Yeah... probably sorry about calling you the "S" word... that's the problem when people who've known each other for too long argue... they know just where to poke the bear. I've been called worse than Pacdude, though. At least once.

All right, yes, I get it... I took a sharp left turn into Crazy Town at the Facebook thing... but I wouldn't have hit the mayor's house if you hadn't diddled with the brakes! Or something like that. Man, I do apologies as good as I do tributes! Top notch and spot-on!

sounds about right.

and "poke the bear"... you sure know some neat expressions.

TBH i'm still learning when to be diplomatic versus when to let the bulldogs go. sometimes you're sure you picked the right one, only to be met with... not the response you expected.

about a week ago, some dude at Sr. T's asked me if i had samples of my artwork with me. i said "sorry no, my tablet's broken right now." then i remembered i had my little DSXL with me, with a few silly sketches on it. i probably should not have continued, as the guy seemed fairly pasted at that point. but... i always like to show and see art. so i showed him a sketch and said "hope you like abstract," and he kind of wobbled his eyes at it for a few moments and then said "aw, a small child could have done that!" i laughed it off and wound up talking to someone else for awhile.

a couple days later i come back and sit down. the same guy is there, only completely sober this time. he proceeds to pipe up "so... hows the art coming along?" i barely glanced at him and proceeded to flip him the bird on my scrawny little hand. and this is a pretty big dude... a piano mover. well, he replies in this hurt, plaintive voice "Whaaaatttt??" and doesn't bother me again.

a moment later i said to myself "WTF just happened? i didn't even know i could get away with that!"

anyway, my baby sitter is tucking me in for a nice little nappy. see you on the flip side, mate.

Well, nic, it sounds like that guy was a bit of a drunken asshole... but, for some reason, I like the cool perverseness of showing art on a DSXL! You know, that's not a bad idea. Buy a bunch of used DS's, stuff 'em full of your art work, put them on exhibition at that bar and charge $500 a pop for them. I bet you'd make your money back faster than you can say "Andy Warhol soup cans"!

wow... i just logged in to FB and it seems, um... that all traces of you are suddenly elsewhere, billington.

if there's a lesson to be learned here, i sure as shit hope i've learned it!

Well, yeah... I was mad! Which, admittedly, is a long, long way from "I was rational!" Tell you what... let's start over from zero. I'll fix things Facebook-wise on my end and, when you get a "friend" request from me, it won't be an account hijacker. At least I hope it's not.
And we gotta lay some ground rules: if we get into a "tiff" over here (which, amazingly, has happened all of one time in 13 years, which has to be a "vp forum" record!), we both have to restrain ourselves from letting it bleed over to where the "decent people" can see it.

you're a good man, charlie brown. :)

and agreed.

TBH i've probably underestimated the value most people place on their FB accts. indeed, every once in a while i seem to say something a little too saucy or ridiculous that ticks someone off. meanwhile, on reddit and a couple of forums i visit, i tend to be far more worried about my conduct and being diplomatic and stuff.

maybe this has to do with the time i slipped and fell on my head when i was hanging upside down from a water pipe, trying to impress a girl. believe it or not i was 28 at the time. >_<

Women do love a guy in a cast ...:nurse:

Yes, some women do. But, like Florence Nightingale, a man thinks that he is "The One" while Flo is nursing 9 others.

How are you doing with the back issues?

How are you doing with the back issues?
it turned out pretty well, thanks mate.

i wear a brace when i play sports and drink right along with the other midwesterners on sports night.

life is short, and i'm prepared for that now.

Is no-hassle physical rehab available? I would use the braces, but then I read that neck collars should only be used for a couple of days to a week. I'm assuming a back brace is different?

Bad back, really got to hate that, though sleepy as I read it he only wears the brace when needed for physical activity support...

I've been lucky with the few back injuries I've had over the years. I once aggravated a disc, lifting a lawn mower onto a tray-back ute once to often. That laid me up for a few weeks off work with bi weekly physiotherapy thankful it came good, mind you it did on occasion give me a reminder every now and then for a year or so, all good now.

Then there was the time after I broke a spur on one of my back bones and that really hurt, could barely stand up and just getting the briefs on was no brief operation. Again though after about 4 weeks the bone knitted back together and the bruising and swelling was gone, hasn't bothered me since.

Just lucky I'm a good healer, that said I know that pain and would not like to have to live with it. Also really just recounting all that my lower back is now just feeling a tad uncomfortable, what is with that psychosomatic pain, damn like WTF body and brain get that shit together!

yeah, the damage seemed to be ribcage-related more than spinal in my recent case.

strange, because one time during a game of basketball, three of us were battling for a rebound and when we came down, someone's elbow dug hard in to my upper spine. it laid me up for about 2-3 weeks, but the pain really wasn't much, considering. i could still move around the house delicately.

by contrast, this recent thing was surely far less serious, yet the pain and immobility was phenomenal. crawling on the floor to go to the bathroom is not something i ever pictured myself doing at this age. :s

btw, ice and heat packs (alternately) have been a nice recuperative aid for back pain and this kind of thing. i probably go through about a dozen freeze-packs (meant for styrofoam coolers) every year.

so it wasn't the type of bone spur that comes from joint stress, but the spiky part of a vertebrae?

that sounds like an amazingly serious injury, yet you didn't even need surgery i guess. wow...

Yes just the spiky bit and yes at the time I did think oops really gone 'n' done it this time.

No surgery, in fact they said it was something that they couldn't or wouldn't operate on and it should mend itself in due course, them bones hey!

Well, I was going to suggest trying Curly Parsley / Parsley Tea. Some folks swear by it for Colic as an anti-inflammatory agent, and for arthritis and for joint pain, and for dissolving gaulstones. But the oxalic acid content of the plant risks forming kidney stones in regular use. Flip a coin?

We've been seeing really bad green leafy produce lately. I test the parsley by running it through a blender to liquify along with a cup of water, and then let it sit on the counter for 12 hrs. Let it sit out. Check it in 12 hrs. If it turns brown with a reek or smells like piss, it's bad. Good parsley stays firm, is not limp, and is solid or bright green. It should never be blotched or dark or bluish.
