Williams Grand Prix (Williams, 1976) (Left side not scoring)

Hi there! my father and I just recently purchased a Williams Grand Prix pinball machine! It was been a wonderful project and we have gotten almost everything working short of the scoring on the left side. I am handy with wires and starting to look in on what needs to be fixed, but i am new to this and was wondering if anyone else knows any common spots to start looking or has worked on a grand prix? The left side arrow that you can stack up the points on doesnt seem to start off at the normal 5k, or add point when you run through the spinner or hit the hole at the top.

I am loving these classic machine and hope to get to know some of you and join in on these pinball machines!

Were does it start out? It should be empty "all lights off" at the start of the game. If it is starting somewhere else, you likely have a relay that is stuck.

it is starting off with no light what so ever so far! I am going to try and follow some relays and understand the wiring diagram today, but compared to this picture

the left 5,000 is not lit when it starts up and it doesnt count up on the side. the spinner and other parts that charge it up work normally, but the counter lights over there never go up and sometimes randomly empty.

When you spin the left spinner, do the lights under the spinner start to light up from bottom to top with each rotation?

sorry for the delay, school kicked back in. The spinner light (the orange ones) go from bottom to top just like the right side. I was reading through the wiring the other day and I am slowly getting little epiphanies of this thing! I love all the switches and wires! Do you think it would have to do with a relay the spinner and other left side pieces are connected to? I am trying to find the relay that tracks and distributes the points on the left side next time im home.

I think you are on the right track. The right side should work exactly the same as the left. Try lifting the playfield and starting a game. Turn the right spinner by hand slowly and opserve what happens under the playfield with the relays. This will give yo an idea as to how the left should work.
