Gottlieb Haunted House (Gottlieb, 1982) credit problems

I have a 1981 Haunted House game that won't give me any credits The test button on the door has also stopped working. When I turn on the machine, everything else seems to work. I've checked the fuses and found no bad ones. Can anyone suggest where or what may be the problem.
Normally, I turn on the machine, open the door and then push down on
the coin-drop spring arm to get credits. This is not working at all. Could the machine be stuck in a "tilt" mode? Any help will be greatly appreciated .

since i dont have a haunted house wiring schematic or manual, i just have a system 80 service manual here are my guesses. it sounds like a switch matrix problem. in gottlieb machines the switch matrix diodes are usually clumped together, one clump for the playfield and one clump for the cabinet. the coin door switches, test button, credit button, and maybee the coin door slam switch will share a common wire. this common wire will go to the cabinet diode clump and then go to J5 on the CPU control board. with machine un-plugged test that diode for proper resistance. change diode if needed. next find that common wire at J5 CPU jack ( bottom center jack ) and try wiggle wire and see if thats the problem. remove J5 jack and clean edge connector with scotch brite and paper towell and re-install J5. if still no luck gottlieb usually uses a pair of hex inverter chips to control the switch matrix. it looks like Z7 and the chip next to it( bottom left side chips ) are the ones, they are usually next to each other. tracking down the circuit board trace from J5 to the chip should tell you which one needs to be changed. if chip needs to be changed un-solder battery first. instead of soldering in the new chip i like to use chip sockets, it prevents heat to the new chip and makes chip changing easy if replacement is needed again.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have checked the diodes ----seem OK. I may not be able to continue until after the holidays, but wanted to thank you for giving me a place to start. When time allows, I will somehow get you a copy of my manual for Haunted House. It sounds as though you really don't need it, but maybe the thing could be useful somehow. I'll stay in touch.
