Sometimes I worry about these sort of experiments, on matter that perhaps should not be touched.

What if that "harpoon anchoring" causes the comet to burst like a balloon?
Or removes several years from the comet's existence? Will the craft stay on the comet, or will there be a garbage cleanup? Blasting off the comet before being detonated?

Sounds like this? Like a metal pot under rapid high heat dissipation?
Note that I've never seen any of the Predator movies. I didn't have to.

The story goes that comet 67p has been the source of radio signals for many years. Several odd things appeared in approach images. These include alien apace craft and "buildings" presumed to do with mining operations. There have been over three dozen elements added to the periodic table since I left school. What is that thing made of? I heard a recording of "sounds" from the comet. My first thought was , pulses of data. Second thought, Predator comet. It is interesting that the audio was originally in the mili-hertz range. Ever heard of a mili-hertz? Me either. Below is a video put together by "Jessi" @ BP Earth watch. It has the recording of the comet signal. If I find images of space ships on 67p. One 'saucer' one was trident with sphere in front, I will post them.

Did you see the image of comet lander "Filet" or whatever. It is lying on it's side...That is one of it's feet sticking strait up...It bounced twice then fell of a cliff .

1.6 Billion dollars and no reverse. No drive, no steering and no brakes either. That lander was just supposed to drift away from the orbiter, float through space then land on it's own three feet. It had no maneuvering thrusters. Just one little rocket motor to hold it "down" when it fired it's harpoons and they never did bother go off. Now there is a chance the lander did have reaction wheels or attitude controlling gyros. I just know it had no maneuvering rockets. If the orbiter did shoot video of the decent are we ever going to see it?

P>S> Talk about tenuous and delicate maneuvers... That lander only weighs one gram. That is the gravitational acceleration of the Philae space craft on the surface of comet 67P equals 1 Gram. The comets gravity is so weak the orbital speed of the mother ship is only 2.7 MPH...

Makes me think of the Age of Entrepreneurs, where such an exposition might be financed in part by patrons. Like a Kickstarter project where the donors are then privy to watching the landing and events from a private internet stream or live at a digital theater. Like a real life Observatory viewing of the craft as it then succeeds, or in this case, apparently failed.

So we haven't progressed then... I have a friend who helped build the "Space Probe on Mars" in the 70's and he said that those probes had no "return to home" function built in. He said the probe still works but it doesn't know enough to find a signal.
