Help needed

Can someone please help me out?

I have read instructions on how to setup and everything at www.irpinball.org/ but for some reason I am not figuring it out.

I have downloaded Visual Pinball...

1st: I downloaded EB "Eight Ball" and added the Zip file in the ROM file... I left the Zip File Zipped up to. But it don't show up when I open the Visual Pinball program.

2nd: I then downloaded Playboy File... it has 3 files in it, but I wasn't sure where to add them, or the Zip file? I added PlayboyVPMv3_1.vpt file in the Table file, chose the file when using the Visual Pinball program and it opened up the table, but only as outlines of the artwork.

From what I wrote above, could you tell me what I am doing wrong?

I would appreciate it very much if you could help me out.

Did you also install VPinmame (do not use PinMAME, use VPinMAME)? If the table requires a ROM, the ROM is used by VPinMAME in combination with Visual Pinball. Download Version 2.2 - Binary from here:

Go to your \Program Files\Visual Pinball folder and inside the Visual Pinball folder Right-Click the window and choose New > Folder.
Rename the folder to any unique name but I would rename it vpinmame. Then Unzip the VPinMAME download to this folder. This will also create a new Roms folder inside with the unzip. Then after unzipping the download to this folder, find the Setup.exe and Double-Click it to run. During installation a "Setup Paths" screen will appear. Make sure the Setup Paths > ROMs address in the configure screen is the same address (location) of the vpinmame\Roms folder on your hard drive.

Put all VPinMAME ROMs in the vpinmame\Roms folder. Keep them zipped.
Unzip all Visual Pinball Table.VPT files to the Program Files\Visual Pinball\Tables folder.

Download the VBS Scripts (Version 3.27 Released 12/28/07) and Unzip this file to the Visual Pinball\Tables folder. See IRPinball\Downloads\Essential files for this file:

Now, make sure there is an Unzipped table.vpt file in the Visual Pinball\Tables folder and (if required) the correct ZIPPED ROM for the table in the vpinmame\Roms folder. Now open Visual Pinball and try the table.

As for the outlines (Playboy table), tables designed on versions of Visual Pinball older than version 9xx may have imaging problems while some of them might not be playable, but if it is then it may only need to be saved in VP9. Try selecting the table in Visual Pinball 9.07 and then click File > Save.
Close and reopen the program and then try the table.

Note that if you also use Visual Pinball 8 or older versions, then you might want to save the table in VP9xx under a different name, say VP9NameOfTable.vpt so that you still have the original version to play on VP8 or earlier.

EDIT: Because some older versions of tables are unplayable on VP9xx, as long as you have the program (any version) installed on your system, you can download VP8.exe or earlier and play using it. Do not re-install these older standalone .exe. They will run on the existing installation and you can put them in the Visual Pinball folder and make a desktop shortcut to these without messing up the existing installation, or you can put them anywhere, say the desktop or in a new desktop folder with no problems.

This is what I downloaded "Visual Pinball" Then in the folder Pinball, I see "VisualPinMAME Setup" So I installed that.

I might be getting things mixed up somewhere.

Using "Visual Pinball" can I use Eight Ball Deluxe with Visual Pinball? And where do I go to get it EBDeluxe. Also, does this mean I need to find a Table for EBDeluxe and a Rom to... and do I look for them seperatley or are they together and then I just seperate them?

The ROMs are always a separate download. There are two types of Visual Pinball tables. There are Visual Pinball tables.vpt that do not use a ROM and then there are VPinMame Visual Pinball.vpt tables that require the second ROM file to work.
Note that the tables available at IRPinball usually do not use a ROM. They are usually Visual Pinball-Only tables and you should be able to play those immediately after installing Visual Pinball. VP for short.

The "eballdlx.zip" file is the ROM file that goes ZIPPED in the Pinball\Roms folder.
You can also download the PINMAME ROM for Eight Ball Deluxe (eballdlx.zip) from the Internet Pinball Data Base here:

Make sure that you also downloaded and unzipped an Eight Ball Deluxe.vpt table file to the Visual Pinball\Tables folder (or to the Pinball\Tables folder) like you did with the Playboy table. That part is correct.

Can you tell if you downloaded the VIP install kit because that has the Visual Pinball program contained in a folder named "Pinball", but don't worry. The VIP install kit is the easy way to install everything.
If you have the VIP kit, then did you run the main install? That is needed to install both Visual Pinball and the VPinMAME add-on program. Visual Pinball will run without installation but will not be registered in the system so the add-ons like VPinMame will not work without installing both programs.
