i've had a nightmarish past 3 years, in 2010 i was laid off
and since then can't find work. i'm just looking for some
simple office or IT work. i don't get replies from 98% of
the resumes i send out, i'm sure that's happening to alot
of folks. if it were not for my brother renting a room from
me, i would not be talking to you right now. $600 a month
is hard to live on! after paying utilities(depending on the
time of year) i might have $200-$250 left to actually exist.

i have had many screws in the last 2 years including an auto
accident with a guy shooting up the outside lane on his motorcycle.
it was clearly his fault and afterwards i asked him 4 times if he was
alright and he said "yes, i'm fine", then days later scares off my little
girl witness, creates his own fake witness, and hires a lawyer now claiming
he is hurt. my insurance co.(state farm) say's "we don't care what my
story is (or the truth), he has a lawyer and witness - i'm screwed!"
they pay his claim and up my insurance premium twice now....

and before that had this girl i dated across the street for abit
then after we broke up she proceeded to whoredog it having men
spend the night several nights at her house right in front of me,
man that was hard to take, she moved away back to her xhubby
in UK, thank goodness, her house now sits there for sale..........

i thought Nanotech was going to make me some money when i
signed a contract with them in 2009 to make pinball tables for them,
but they went down or whatever and have failed to honor the contract
they put together which guarantees me minimal royalties per year,
regardless of sales. they owe me $1875 x 3 years (3 table packs @ $625 min
royalty per year), but i don't think i'm ever going to see any of it..........

in other news, can't find many paying gigs to perform at - music world has always been hard,
my teeth are going to hell, no money for dentist - i'm trying to get into this charity center near
by that might help me fix some of my ruddy teeth, BUT THE BIGGEST NIGHTMARE OF ALL IS
$10,000 DELEQUENT PROPERTY TAXES ON MY HOME - havn't been able to pay for 3 years
and now 2012 taxes are due too - I HAVE EXTREMELY BAD FEROCIOUS NIGHTMARES, WHEN
I CAN SLEEP, ABOUT LOSING MY HOME! I WAKE UP FREAKED OUT AND DON'T WANT TO SLEEP
MUCH - SOMEDAYS IT'S A LIVING HELL, sure there are people with many worse problems than
me in this world, and i still think i'm pretty blessed, but i could sure use some sort of good luck
soon.............:|

i'm not telling you about this for sympathy, just one man's story, and it somehow makes
me feel better to tell it to somebody......................thanx for listening

I know what you mean. I have show biz family dangling me on a string for a thousand years. They Never Ever represented their business as show biz. They were Poor. They were Hicks, though I have a picture of my Uncle Art, as played by Robert Shaw, while Grandpap was probably Sir Lawrence you-know.

There is a phrase, "They dress like Hippies and act like Sicilian Mafia". No shit. EDIT: Actually, the phrase is this. "They talk like Hippies and act like Sicilian Mafia". Yep.
And they use everything from me that they can take (steal), and then take care of me by putting me on County Welfare instead of paying a living wage Retainer for the money that they should be holding in my name.

I've actually suggested, created, and/or designed rides for Disneyland in the privacy of my family home, as well as movies, but as a pipe dream with no connections, and because I didn't know that I lived among them, they took it without my knowledge or payment. Their attitude is, "The existence of the coincidence is the proof", but they want Me to do the legwork and run them down in order to solve their liability issues with me. Yes, they definitely have Liability Issues waiting.

If I cooperate, then it would appear as if I consented, but I never did. And I do not want their version of 'a life style'. They live like Monks.

My teeth are shot to shit because of Them and I was born a cleft palate with a speech impediment. That used to be the reason why I avoided Hollywood work. I couldn't do it and did not speak well, Mmmm, Mmmm, Mumbles and saying words like "44" and sounding like I said "forney-four". But Disney, W.B., Paramount, SONY, FOX, and many, many rock bands and artists such as Stevie Wonderful, they've all had my ass behind my backside thanks to my folks cheating me with their phony poverty. I wore braces for 8 fucking years, and when the Hazing started with sleep deprivation from noise aimed in my direction and my teeth began to rot, they all thought that my dental problems and Enforced Poverty would serve as an inspiration to ensure my cooperation.

I created "Cuntface" Frank Dollarhyde, the cleft palate character in the book, "Red Dragon", and Dr. Lecter and Clarice and Jamie "Buffalo Bill" Gumb ("Silence of the Lambs"). The "wrong address" scene in SotL was from me as was "the Face Escape" sequence. So they took all of that too and gave it to "Author Harris". Before that, I was often ripped by Stephen King. Carrie was originally about my school years as a cleft "Mmm Mmm" palate and difficulties with the local school bullies, people like The Woz and Steve Jobs back in elementary school, though in elementary school they were delinquents.

I was Not the source for the books and films "Hannibal" or "Young Hannibal". Is the difference in quality obvious?????

Because of my experiences, I have been responsible for many of the modern horror films and several original Twilight Zone episodes and a few Hitchcocks, since 1958 at the age of 4.
But with no pay. And I am always responsible when it is my fault, but not when it is Good News for family.

Most pro music is studio in-house with Nepotism going on. That's why the music biz is The Bitch.
Back in the 1970's, most every group and artist on Warner Reprise was the same folks wearing their different faces.
No shit.

And my folks are still on me to come across. I still live in one of their hole-in-the-wall "no-Hollywood" apartments, 7 miles from Universal and The Burbank Studios, and just tonight "the local amateur dance club was once again in the parking lot practicing to a boom box playing "My Heart Will Go On". Again. Just like last week.

I created that song on the family piano in '96. The folks took it for That Movie which I also created the plot, practicing scripting just in case their ill temper were to cease long enough for me to consider working in the biz. So they took that movie plot too.
Everything except The Diamond and the Search Team, and Jack's death was from me. The character of Rose was created from Ibsen's "A Doll's Life", though she was also drawn from my treatment of Lucy Westenra as, at that time and for the last 22 years, I have been practicing script development by focusing on the book, "Dracula". Mostly because I actually hated the book when I read it so it serves as a challenge, and because I am rarely happy with most films that I see.

Coppola did his "Drac" after my family took notice of my preoccupation, and his version sucks. I think it was meant as a spoof to goad me into signing up for them. Note "Dr. Lecter" as Prof. Van Helsing. I was thinking of him in that role "for my version".

My "Dracula" is a Gem. :)

I spent the first years of my life in Speech Therapy learning how to talk, and now at nearly 59 I am learning to shut up for my own interests.

End of my rant. Am I Babbling? I apologize.

Do you have pictures of the accident?
Are there dents in the side of your truck, or did the idiot cut in front of you?
What does the police report say about it?

Dammit, I feel Bla!

Bla!

I mean I REALLY HATE The 21st Century!

The fluoroscope white sterile lighting, like a fucking Doctor's Office. And whole apartments using that look for style accents.

The frigid steely Deck of it.

BLA!

lets all play 'can you top this?
I was hired in May of 2010 for a forklift driving position in NJ
3 weeks into the job I blow out my left hip (bursitis brought on by a sprain)
an MRI revealed a bone spur on the leg end as it goes into the hip socket
my doctor keeps me home while doing absolutely nothing to fix it,
inflammation dies down so I get sent back to work.
Injury acts up again so I am sent home this goes on for over seven months
finally he thinks I am 'healed' so closes the Workers Comp case
and sends me back into the work place. It hurts enough so I go home again
by this time it's already December of 2010. On January of 2011 the company fires me for not being able to perform my job duties as required.
Now I have been home ever since and to top it all off the WC checks stopped in November of 2011.
All this year I have been getting what was a % of the settlement
but that has ended too in September. Since the settlement hasn't officially been declared
I am NOT allowed to get any more money from it, so now I sit with absolutely NO income
and am relying strictly on my girlfriends IRA which she is drawing money out of just to pay my bills.
To be out of work is depressing enough
but to be out or work with NO income to call my own really flat out sucks
I am trying to find work but it is rough at my age with three major injuries
Back- three herniated discs in '05, knee operation in '89 and now this
at age 53 who wants a 'broken down old man' who may get injured again?
Sigh I hate the medical profession with a passion

sorry to hear about all that, fellas. i always respect and appreciate when people can take it real and share some personal heartbreak soup.

@tim,
back when i was still able to work (kinda barely), i used to get a lot of jobs signing up at temp services. a couple of them turned in to permanent jobs, so no complaints on my end. then again, that was in the mid-to-late 90's, so there was probably more jobs and less competition. but still...

and no idea about TX specifically, but i think most states have free clinics for dental, general health care, and mental disorders (including your basic depression). when i was in PA such places were invaluable to me before i got on medicare. even WITH medicare, many of those places might just have offered better service. in short, ER's can't turn you away, and states have to provide programs for the poor, which is what more and more of us are, these days. BTW, a good buddy of mine who actually makes a decent living finally decided to have all of his remaining cavity-prone teeth pulled and dentures fitted. the cost wasn't terrible upfront, dentures are not really that bad these days, and it forestalled enormous costs down the road. indeed, i kind of feel like pulling that same move myself, one of these days. :D

@sleepy,
i can never make hide nor hair out of those type of posts, so... er, rock on?

@myself,
still trying to get my thyroid disease properly diagnosed so i can eventually receive the meds i need to restore balance, i.e. not feel shitty most of the time. on the one hand, patience is a virtue and its gotten me through a lot of rough years. OTOH, i've been pretty exhausted and debilitated since my mid-20's, the disease only gets worse with each passing year, and my mental discipline to stay the straight and narrow course tends to unravel over time. if you know what i mean.

life is a dream that's soon over, then we can rest for a long, long time... is all i know for sure. :D

Thyroid disease? My Mom had hers surgically reduced or removed(??) due to hyperactivity.
Me, I rub the inside of my ear canal, then the neck and then the crease at the shoulder-to-neck because there are nerves there in each ear that runs down the neck to the sides of the thyroid and to the shoulder crease at the neck.

Otherwise, sometimes when I try to sing, that gland clamps up on me

And as far as local dental clinics, in California you are out of luck unless you are completely homeless or are interested in Extractions Only and without offering dentures.

The State Denti-Cal program has been slashed to that, while adult men between 21 and 65 have never had any dental assistance except for Extractions Only.
The few clinics that offer fillings for the homeless are privately funded.

And Medicare doesn't cover dental at all, at least in California. I know this because I just got back from helping my 86 year old Mother through her confusion at the dentist, and earlier I talked to a government Medicare agent on the phone today and he told me that dental work is not covered.

Ike, does Medicare cover dental where you live? Are you sure it's not a State program?

haven't used dental since i got to OH. no idea. but common sense says i should definitely test the process ASAP.

In Pa I can go to a dental clinic at temple University
but just to walk into the place costs $100
(due to a hereditary gum disease and NO not gingivitis)
I have only seven good teeth left
and to replace my entire mouth would cost thousands
even at that place
Now I am going to apply for welfare and Medicaid Monday
but being single and actively seeking employment I don't think
I will be accepted as a needy person (no kids and no long term disabilities
since my evaluation on my hip has yet to be determined)
IO do have an EBT food card for $100/month but that doesn't pay the bills
Now I am hooked up with a few employment agencies (on a temp to hire basis)
Randstad, Aerotek, Everstaff, McCallion Staffing and Kelly Services for the past two months or so
but so far nothing has come up that they feel I could do... even to call me to make the offer on the jobs
and I did not work long enough to collect Unemployment even though I was at the same place for a year
the actual time I worked only equaled seven weeks and one needs:
To be eligible for unemployment benefits, you must have worked at least 20 base weeks
in covered employment or you must have earned $7,300. For weeks worked in 2010, 2011, and 2012 the amount is $145.
These wages must have been earned during a 52 week period that is called a base year.

Medicare is a federal government-sponsored healthcare program primarily for seniors, Medicaid is for low-income families and is managed by both the state and federal governments. Medicare and Medicaid differ in terms of who they cover, how they are funded and governed.
Medicare is an insurance program. Medical bills are paid from trust funds which those covered have paid into. It serves people over 65 primarily, whatever their income; and serves younger disabled people and dialysis patients. Patients pay part of costs through deductibles for hospital and other costs. Small monthly premiums are required for non-hospital coverage. Medicare is a federal program. It is basically the same everywhere in the United States and is run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, an agency of the federal government.
Medicaid is an assistance program. Medical bills are paid from federal, state and local tax funds. It serves low-income people of every age. Patients usually pay no part of costs for covered medical expenses. A small co-payment is sometimes required. Medicaid is a federal-state program. It varies from state to state. It is run by state and local governments within federal guidelines.

Hey faralos, if you are not receiving any income right now and are only getting $100 in Food Stamps, then was the $100 amount established from when you were getting settlement money?

If so, then have you reported the change in income to the food stamp office?
Having no income should entitle you to the full $200/Mo. in food stamps, but being given meals or sharing meals with others will lower that amount.

@sleepy,
i can never make hide nor hair out of those type of posts, so... er, rock on?

Okay, then let me make it simple.

Ike, you create an original song in the privacy of your family home, or at your Grandmother's house while playing on her piano.
Your folks take that song and cash it in for themselves while leaving you ignorant of the fact that they used you. It goes #1 on the radio.
It wins The Grammy for Song of the Year.

You create a movie script in the privacy of your family home.
Your folks take that movie script and cash it in for themselves while leaving you out of it. It wins an OSCAR for both Best Screenplay and Best Picture.
You are still sitting at home, on your lonesome.

You create a short story in, say, 1960, in the privacy of your family home.
Your folks take that short story and cash it in for themselves as an episode of the original "Twilight Zone" t.v. series, and they leave you out of it.
Richard Matheson or Rod Serling take credit for the story.

You invent a toy or a food item. You work out the details. You create the design of the manufacture of the toy, or the recipe for the food item. You discuss the designs and plans and recipes with your older Brother or with your younger Sister...

..Your folks take that toy design and that food item and cash it in for themselves while leaving you ignorant And out of it.
Let's say that you invented the slot car in 1956, the Barbie Doll, the Etch-a-Sketch, the Spirograph, the Light Brite (and 7 years earlier, proposed the principle of fiber optics while playing in the sunlight), and Hot Wheels, as well as Tator Tots, the Ripple Potato Chip, the BBQ Potato Chip, etc.. I love fried potatoes. Never mind that there is an Official History for each product which contradicts your own personal memories of how you created each item.

Your family expects that, when you see the item in the store, you will "get the idea of what has been going on". And also, none of these products were in the store until after you worked out the details, even though the "history" of each item claims that each item "was invented thirty years or more before it was finally manufactured", in your era.

Let's say that you created Lucky Charms cereal with the dehydrated crunchy marshmallows in 1963 while visiting your Aunt's house, even though the history of the cereal claims that it was created in-house by an employee of General Mills who in 2005 is reported to "have died in a convenient car accident".

Let's say, well, never mind...

Now, let's say this has happened to you over 100 times or more and it is now over 50 years later.

Do you think that you should be allowed to obtain legal representation for your business dealings, not to sue your family, but just to ensure a fair deal?

My folks, they don't want that. They want to keep everything under the table.

I dunno seems like your a slow learner to me Sleepy? Once bitten twice shy, thrice and the jokes on you, yes?

Like Ike not sure what to make of your rant, I know you have quite a head on your shoulders, an intelligence to be reckoned with, still a lot of your innuendo beggars belief?

Still when copyrights are curtailed as they will/have been (be that by eventual legal reforms or by the people) , then perhaps it may free you. ;)

* oh for what it's worth, my teeth are worse then I care to state here, I earn less then the so called poverty line, own no house/car or savings and I'm going on 50, still I get by just fine so far...

Yep, I know my problems with my heady folks aren't appropriate for discussion.
I should feel blessed, except I've never had the personal benefit of any of it.
None.

My folks live like Recluses and Mobsters and never ever told me their true occupations.
In fact they act as if everything wrong that they do is okay because I am going to be so well off once I kiss their ass, as if everything they stole out of my hide is Theirs, not mine. And then when I disagree openly, they turn aggressive, often violent while denying everything. And then when I start to ignore it all, they start over with their clues, celebrities doing personal cameos and walk-ons around me, etc.

Thanks to them, I've slept off a broken tail bone, numerous impacted teeth and several heart attacks while they sat back and ignored it all, for not explicitly agreeing to their terms, so I'm not interested in settling anything 'under the table'. Right now I want some documentation of their behaviors in my direction. That is insurance.

And as for copyrights, you are kidding, right?
The industrialists and robber barons are still in control of the product.
Open source for instance, ain't M$ but it still sells computers and storage media, which is why companies such as IBM support the development of open source software.
They still have control of it, but to sell hardware.

What I've learned from my folks is how very in control some people are of Hollywood and media And industry, the food chain, land and real estate, and our governments.
It's really as if The British Empire faked The Revolutions just to thin the masses, and there have been HINTS to that effect as well around here.

sleepy, i think you sort of put the cart before the horse when you set out to explain these type of anecdotes to other folks. instead of telling them like a writer or a storyteller would to an audience of strangers, you make certain parts unnecessarily mysterious, especially those revolving around "your folks" and "hollywood hazing."

or rather, you seem to assume that others already know what you're talking about. i don't think anyone here really does.

i understand that certain stuff you obviously don't want to get too personal about, then again it's not like you're the first person in the world who had to omit something specific yet still managed to tell a clear story.

i'm sure it's all very clear and obvious in your mind... just that as someone on the outside i remain as dumbfounded as ever. then again, i tend to be a dumbfounded dude. :D

and, yea... steve's question of how you manage to fall in to the same pit trap 50 million times in a row is a good one IMO.

Copyright laws may change, but again, the products will still be under the control of the same people. If you are talking about internet sales, then you might have a chance in the market. If you are talking about brick and mortar stores selling products, then the laws will likely still favor the old money, the IBMs and M$, same as before.

Now if your only concern about copyright laws is fair use, public domain and free product,
actually that is mostly tolerated by the copyright holders for promotional consideration or as anything which is no longer marketable. M$ crippled their Windows Genuine Advantage antipiracy check for XP. If you are still running XP, you can now reject the WGA piracy check by just saying No and still update to SP3. That wasn't the case last year.

And that's because XP is an End-Of-Life product while the OS helps the poorer folks access The Internet and shopping which are still billion dollar products.
So if there is big money to be had, the copyright holders will let the piracy slide a bit.
