JAPANESE-MADE PINBALLS

Wow. Sears was still selling them in 1980?
I guess they did sell after all, for 8 years or so.
Were there any lights in these machines?
I'd be wondering if they used to have lights on location in parlors and maybe the reconditioning process pulled the lights?

They still had the original ashtrays!

yup... absolutely, sleepy. agreed with your points. and i couldn't find video of those goofy sega slingshots in action last time around but i'll have to give it another go some other time.

i used to have a home-market pachinko when i was a kid. ten years ago i kept telling myself that i wanted to get a real one when my disability settlement came through. but now that it has, i find i lack the necessary pachinko mojo. what happened to it?

maybe i came to the conclusion that pachinko is just not a very interesting game when it comes down to it. or moreso, it's a game for obsessive personalities... and i've got enough obsessions i'm trying to shed, thank you very much. but seriously, the basic game is little more than a glorified version of slots. more interesting on the surface... more fun to look at, study, and watch... but no real depth. nothing like pinball IMO. and it's kawaii-factor rubs off faster than you can say "AKB48 sucks!" (link is one of my favorite blogs all time, btw)

anyway there's my big fat opinion for the evening. have a good night, guys! :)

Could it be that pachinko is a game of chance?
Hit the Center Flower Jackpot from an indirect shot,
but you have maybe 50 to 100 chances to make it.

Pinball can be a game of chance with outrageous layouts and large outholes, or it can be a concise game of skill involving direct shots and careful aiming.
I've never been too crazy about games of chance, school, etc.

check out some articles about the rank-and-file pachinko gamblers in that crazy yakuza-influenced industry. fascinating stuff and scary stuff, both.

Has anyone seen a Gotlieb Buccaneer 1976 that takes yen? Mine does wonder how rare it is?
