I dl'd couple days ago, I really like the theme & JP's work
Thought it would be OK, as it's VP9 with no rom required
I get errors - corevbs & impulse plunger
So I'm presuming it relies on MAME to work ?
Would it be a major task, to replace impulse plunger etc.
to be playable in VP9 ?

Solution
Yeah, I ignored this thread myself, but because the spammer had posted here and it left me thinking it was an older thread....duh!

I'm not clear on the .vbs version numbers at this time, so try using this core.vbs file. Unzip it to the Tables folder where Strange World and its .hta help file is found.

It's a good recreation, I think.
I just played it in vp9 with no problems
but I had to put it and its HTML file
into the tables folder in my vp9 program to have it work
otherwise it crashes
and I agree it is great pin but then again
it is from JP who makes pins that always rock

Cheers, but it don't work here any how or where it's put
Do you have VPM ? I don't

I get these errors ...

'Uses the Impulse Plunger from the core.vbs
ExecuteGlobal GetTextFile("core.vbs"):If Err Then MsgBox "Can't open ""core.vbs"""

& ...

Set plungerIM = New cvpmImpulseP

... & I did put the HTML doc. in with it

I can open & look at it now - nice :) - but not play it yet
as I've disabled all impulse plunger stuff ...

There is nothing in any of the .vbs files that could not be put into the table script unless there is VPM specific things in them, though which could still be if VPM is installed. If not a VPM table, which is required for assumption of the existence of these files, that is the best way to do it, in the table script.

it ain't a vpm table and it uses no roms either
but yeah I do have vpm installed
since I tend to play tables that need it
so maybe it really needs the vpm to run?
it crashes for me when running it off my desktop
I must put it into the table folder within vp9 to get it to run at all
sorry it won't work for you though as it is a heck of a good playing pin
as are any of Jp's

Sorry Phil for not thanking you ... as I could not decipher what you were saying ...
& Steve ... would you rather I just fuck off?

Say what? Patch?

I merely thanked Shocky for what I thought a useful post as stated anything that is scripted in the .vbs files can be used in any table whether that script is copied to the table or called from the table script.

No reference to your good self was made or intended.

It seems to me you have some kind of problem with your .vbs files which maybe out of date or corrupted.

He doesn't have the vbs.core files.

Oops sorry Steve, I thought I was being ignored as you didn't reply
in Jack in the Box thread, but ...

"It seems to me you have some kind of problem with your .vbs files which maybe out of date or corrupted."

... is what I was expecting to hear, might get somewhere now
I went looking for core.vbs, but don't know what the current/correct version is

I also have Jp's Mephisto which apart from ball showing thru' flippers runs fine

:)

to add, why I thought it had to do with VPM is the name of the plunger ...

New cvpmImpulseP

also, thankyou Bob for the demos I've been using :)

I was not trying to be rude. I just was pointing out the the .vbs files are an extension to the table script and the code needed could be copied to the table script, and this table is a good example of a reason to do it. It has been a long time since I programmed a table with VP, but I used the plunger and flipper code that is in the core.vbs files in my table script before they were ever put into the core.vbs file.

If you do not use VPM but like that impulse plunger for example, you could set up your table to use it without needing the .vbs file.

Cheers Phil, I didn't think you were being rude at all.
Was just me, couldn't quite get the gist of what you said

I can only find vpvbs3-27 listed here & IRP, under VPM files
which I've already tried using, before putting up this thread

Guess it's only one table of many, should just delete it & move on
