Hey there.. New guy here..

I've gotten a Jubilee machine from my mom that had some issues.. For the most part it was working. Found some bent switches, burnt coil, etc.. I got to the point where I thought I was getting close to being done other then some detailing.. (Paint, backglass, etc..)

However, One relay (Advance Relay) was giving me fits and was continuously stuck on. A wire was cut when I got it, guess that was someones way of fixing it.. Anyway, I decided to go through and clean all switches using a business card. Upon trying to fire it back up, it does nothing..

Left flipper will bring up the playfield and back box lights. Start button does nothing. There are credits on the machine. I've looked through the schematic and from what I've also read, it could be a switch in the game over relay, reset relay. The issue I have is I have no idea what relay is what. There are no labels.

If anyone has a pic or diagram of what relay is what in the bottom of the game, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also any other ideas of what the problem could be is also welcome.

Thanks

the manual is just as important as the schematic for em pinballs. if you dont have one go to the internet pinball database, type in jubilee, pick 1973-06 jubilee, scroll down to documentation, download and printout english manual. this manual will show info on step units, relays and other info. switches and wire color info for each relay can be used to identify which relay is which to make a identifing label for each row of relays. when left flipper button is pushed the lock relay stays pulled in and lights up machine. pushing start button usually pulls in the coin relay first. manually push in coin relay and see if the game resets. if not schematic circuit path for that relay will need to be checked. if the machine has been sitting for many years the step units are probably gummed up and need work also. coin mech switches are important. usually they are a 3 blade switch that opens the circuit to the score motor if they arent adjusted properly, which wont allow the machine to start.

Thanks for the info. I was able to track down the coin relay and manually pushing it in did get it to reset and was able to play. After that the start button seemed to work now also. Must've been some dirt still on the contacts.

I've taken apart and cleaned most of the stepper units, have one more to do yet.. I was having the common problem of the ball and player not advancing. Those have been resolved..

I'll do some more checking on things tomorrow. I'm sure I'll have more questions eventually.

Thanks again.

Well, Got most everything functional.. I found a weird issue with the advance relay being stuck on.. I won't go into full detail of what I went through to find the problem but there was a short on the gate switch.. One of the mounting screws on the top side of the playfield just happened to be inline with one of the underside staples and ended up touching in the wood.. Pulled the staple and all is well..

Now to repair or replace a lot of light sockets..

if the lights in question are in line it may be a wire broken somewhere
try a multimeter on one of them when the power is on
it's just odd that there would be many bad light sockets at the same time
also sometimes the bottom of the socket has corrosion on the contacts
a fiberglass brush or even a pencil eraser may be all that is needed to clean them
many of mine (I own a williams flash) had corrosion and a simple yet thorough cleaning made many of them work again

Thanks for the info.. Most that I'm running into are just rusted.. I'm in the process of cleaning and some soldering.. Had to run off to Texas for three days but have about half done.. Back at it tomorrow..
