LogIn Bug?

Dunno if its really a Bug, (in fact im not even sure if its on my side or the Forums), but the trouble is this: When i enter the site via my frontpage-bookmark i get to the frontpage just fine and im also greeted with 'Hello Phoenixx' in the upper left corner. But still my nick is not showing up in the 'Active Members' list, and if i refresh the page only one time the upper left corner suddenly says 'Hello unlogged User', although it said my name right before when i entered. (In case you wonder; Yes, i have cookies enabled and also checked the 'RememberMe' option.)

Then, (which seems to be the weird part), when i click on 'LogIn', im not asked for any nick and password, but redirected to the forums instead! The forum then says 'Hello Phoenixx' again (although i didnt enter any nick or PW by then) and when i then go back to the frontpage via the big PN-Banner im suddenly shown in the ActiveMembers list and the upper left corner says 'Hello Phoenixx' again too. That seems to be the point after which im really logged in.

So despite the fact that the site is greeting me with my nick whenever im entering, to be really logged in i always have to take a trip over the forums back to the frontpage. If i dont go that route my nick does appear in the upper left corner, but im not shown in the ActiveMembers list and im also not really logged in.

Yesterday this caused some confusion when i tried to submit a highscore for hours (i left the browser open and tried again from time to time whilst doing some work) until it finally dawned on me that the trouble might be that im not actually logged in although the frontpage said 'Hello Phoenixx' when i entered. So i finally opened a second tab and went the route via the forums, and once i loaded the game on that second tab i could in deed submit the score from the original tab just fine in a matter of seconds.


If all that sounds like something is going wrong on my side please let me know what i have to do to fix it.
If its a problem with the forum i hope its not too complicated to fix,...:curtain:

I seem to get this error on my first attempt to enter the forums and now I'm printing in bold text somehow, might be the above quote somehow?

Anyways I also have to logon to this site everytime, I have no cookie blockers and have no script set to allow scripts here, so I just thought I'd let ya know.

EDIT: Its 25 Minutes later now and now my bookmark works again.

The randomness seems to remain, but the errormessage was different this time,...

You should try to activate the short url's feature on Xantia, that require also to put a .htaccess file on the web root, as the error can be related this and is not depending from PnvB. For this, if you know how to achieve, please activate the 'short_url's' feature on your Xantia Postnuke admin (add also the correct .htaccess as required on root). I had to think in that finally just because for example in other PnvB site the error do not happen and they have your same config, except that the Xantia 'short Url's' feature is activated. It is a well know problem of Postnuke that can be solved in this way. I have try all possible with PnvB, and finally i discover that, maybe, the problem isn't of PnvB.

ps: yesterday, many times i have change configurations and files, so maybe someone have experience different errors, as ever, for this reason.

Let know if and when you have activate 'short URL's' (remember to put the correct .htaccess file in the root before to activate it admin or you will get in error the site for visitors, while the admin still will go run ok in any case). So finally we will know if the error 404 is coming out from that well know problem of Postnuke.

If I use this favorites link with IE I get the 404 error right now. I was getting this for a few days. When I finally did get PN to come up, I made a new favorites link for the forums and it seems to work.

The main site was unavailable to me until i logged out of the forums, i then logged in, went back to the forums, clicked on the PN banner received the header error message and it was ok after i reloaded the page.

A status update, short urls have been activated!

I've been doing some testing and noticed that when i login using the PnVB login box on the home page and then click on the "Click here if your browser doesn't redirect you" link, the header error message does NOT appear if you click on it with the proper timing.

Im still getting the FatalError whenever i try to enter the site via the frontpage. Forum works fine. But i think i might have found the culprit. It could be the Shoutbox, because it just displayed the very same FatalError line. Perhaps we should temporarily remove it and see how it goes without it? Just a thought,...

have you try out this? What result? (maybe nothing as the block i see is still active).
Hope to take a look for tomorrow, while PnvB will be modified to solve once all problems (hope in very short time).
just now i have see the error problem opening main page about many times you are speacking.

Thanks for the information about the chatbox Phoenixx, I temporarily disabled it but the header error remained, i believe these errors appeared before the chatbox was even installed but maybe it will help rule out another possibility for axew3.

Yeah, I misread your post, it does say Shoutbox...
Problem still remains after deactivating it but it's being worked on.

This is a known bug and we are trying to squash it...
Anytime that you see this message, you can refresh or reload the page and it will disappear.

Thanks axew3, i no longer receive the header error and it appears that I'm logged in everytime i go to the homepage!

Auto re-login and everything seems to be working fine now, however, i just ran into another peculiar problem,...


I was playing 'Motherboard' and since i (kind of) cheated to get that high score i wanted to leave a note for fairness sake. But although i was logged in, (upper right corner said so, score has been submitted too), the part with the comments said quote: "Only registered users can comment, login or create account". (Something like that.) Since i was actually already logged in there was nothing i could do, because once logged in there wont be a login-form anymore. (Logical.)


Just thought i let you know,...i suppose nobody can write a comment right now,...

It took me awhile to figure out how to add a comment in the Arcade...

I know that comments are working, just tested on Turkey Fling, I'll have to see what the problem was but i just changed the session timeout settings to a higher number, this might have been the cause.
