As groni wrote in our web site (JPSalas & Groni = JPG-PINS):

"Ok, some facts about the new Release, and things you should know about
LOTR 2.0

The complete Table is redone from Scratch.
I builded almost every Graphic, and took shots for the Table from the real one.
JP builded the Table and the Script.
Great Balrog Animation by JP

So one thing you need to know about the Balrog.
It looks awesome, it glows, it rotates......BUT
Visual Pinball have an really ugly Bug. Balls are always shown in front of an Reel.
In case that this Balrog is based on Reels, the Ball roll over these Reelparts.
Normally you can add Walls, to hide the Ball behind it. But in this case it was not Possible, cause it´s a moving object. Means if you add a wall behind the Balrog, then the wall stays where it is when the Balrog moves. So you have to live with the fact that the Ball rolls in front of the Balrog on some parts. For example on the Arms when the ball is coming out of the Ringmagnet and the Balrog is in the OFF Position.

Then we added a Multilanguage support.
By pressing F6 you can choose your Language. Needs a Restart to take effect.

By pressing "R" you can view the Rulecard, which shows up in the Language you choose from the Options.

Also there is a English and a German Apron. with Rule and Coincards on it.

You can choose it from the IMAGE EDITOR in VP. Standard is English Apron

What is more to say?? It plays like a Dream, i adjusted the Physics, and all Parts of the playfield are very nice reachable.
Jp has done a perfect Job on the Flashers and on the Balrog Lightning. They flash and glow very very nice!

So we hope you will enjoy another JPG-PIN and have much fun with it!

GRONI"

I would like to thank Destruk for sending us the manual, and for making the first LOTR table, from which I have used many parts of the script.

JP

Thanks JP & Groni a totally awesome job all the way around! 10 stars!! :)

:clap:Thanks guys - I know this is going to be good!

The right inlane (the 2nd E in KEEP) isn't registering properly. More specifically, it's triggering the right outlane (P) instead.

Otherwise this seems to be a beautiful table. Quite demanding on the video though, I had to turn off fading lights to avoid stuttering during SINGLE ball play.

switch around *sw60* & *sw61* around , just trade places...it was just a simple misplacement...:) I just found out about it a moment ago, and all I did was just switch them around...:):)

Richard.

how do I INCREASE the volume? I found out how to decrease it (hit the '9' in that bookeeping mess) but to increase it I can't find any button to do that! thanks and yeah it stutters on my computer too, I didn't expect 4 multiballs in the first few seconds of playing, silly me, now I must play it in a window just like all the other new pins due to my sucky INTEL graphics, but excellent table otherwise!! and it's not your fault I have a bad computer...

Right, that did it, thanks.

Don't go into "that bookeeping mess". Just from regular table ready mode, press 9, then 8 to increase volume.

Great work, table is fantastic.

Apart from the stunning visuals, I really like the sounds you have included in this release. The samples that you use for the bumpers and slingshots are perfect, they sound realistic and not too loud. I think you should include these samples in all your past tables such as TOTAN & STTNG. Would it be possible to attach the sound samples here so we can import them into other tables? They are that good!

Where do you do that, in the script?

Where do you do that, in the script?
I did it in the editor, not in the script. The tiggers in the right inlane/outlane are reversed - sw60 should be sw61 and vice versa. In the attached image I've zoomed into this area in the editor... Select the green boxes in the inlanes, then change their names in the options panel.

Note that you can't change a trigger name to an existing trigger name, so you can't rename sw60 to sw61 for instance because sw61 already exists... So, you'll need to rename one to "temp" or something, then rename the other as needed, then come back and rename the first one. Hope that makes some kind of sense...

Remember, the inlane should end up being sw61 and the outlane should be sw60.

OK, now I don't know that this bug report will be very helpful, but who knows. I was having an AWESOME game (200M+) and at some point the game stopped allowing the Ring shot. I don't mean it wouldn't register it, I mean the ball couldn't go through the Ring anymore. The ball would always fall down into the Path of the Dead entrance instead, same as it does when the shot is too weak to make it to the Ring. But these shots were definitely strong enough - several of them. It was working fine at the beginning of the game, and I'd even gotten to Destroy the Ring, but at some point after that - poof - no more balls would go through.

:(

@Raymech, you could just record the sound and import it any flipper you want. Just start up any software that records to wav and play the sound in the VP editor.
If you don't have a recoding software, you can download Audacity (it's freeware)

And about the ring bug, I know that Groni is aware of it, guess they will fix it in the next version released.

Just saying thanks.
Quality Table. Keep it up, your tables rock :guitar:

Thanks for all your comments!

We are preparing an update, so just now we have these bugs which will be fixed:
- Right inlane/outlane switch are exchanged
- The ring stops responding: I guess it is due to the change in the strength flippers, that kicker don't register all the time, so we'll change the whole ring system. The ball also can get stuck behind a wall, back the magnet.

Now, about the sounds: it was Groni who recorded those sounds. All our new tables will include them, and also the updates :)

Ok, let's see how I'll fix the ring :)

JP

Wow...!!

JP...you're a blessing to this community...your work is simply unmatched...!!

Thanks for the updated info JP, BTW I didn't think you were awake on this hour of the night :) IIRC you live in Norway too?

Jp & Groni .. I must say .. this beautiful table from scratch went straight into 'my favorites' list (strangely enough, it wasn't before!)!

Awesome graphics, awesome play!

Amazing multiball (didn't even have to switch off the 'Direct Draw! No stuggering!).

First play I even got myself a new 'humble' personal highscore (I know upfront you guys are gonna kill me off with your highscores!).

Fantastic you even got the option to get multiple 'Extra Balls' during the play of one and the same ball => I didn't know before!

All in all: a FANTASTIC re-do of this table by both of you!!
I will have hours of FUN in playing it ..

'The average adult can usually enjoy something only if
it relates to what he knows already, and what he knows
about VP is in many cases pitifully inadequate.'

In other words: the mentioned bug in VP => I can live with it!

I'm simply awestruck. :surprise:

I normally expect to experience some ball stuttering on my relatively meager PC whenever I get multiball and all lights flashing on a JPGpin, even with DDraw disabled. Not in LOTR though. Idk what's different about the way this table's been made but I love it. LOVE IT!!!

Meet me at the Green Dragon Inn. :orcbeer:

Wow, I'd love to know what types of video cards you guys have in your "meager" PCs that don't stutter on this table. My onboard nVidia 6150LE *hates* it. It's much happier with fading lights deactivated, but it still grumbles a little in multiball when all of the lights are flashing.

JP, Groni, amazing work. Your partnership has already improved some of JP's wonderful solo creations and the prospect of the two of revisiting some of the already great tables is exciting. One thing on LOTR; do you have an alternate flipper sound? On my PC and especially on my laptop, the flippers sound more like clicks than on your other games like AFM and TSPP. Thanks again for the great work and really helping to keep Visual Pinball alive.
