Monopoly pinball (1st post)

Hello all,

I'm Drew, this is my first post since joining Pinball Nirvana.

I've convinced the company in charge of our video games to replace Theatre of Magic (since our store has had it almost A YEAR now) with Monopoly.

Is that machine well liked?
I've never played it.

PS: My favorite games are Cyclone, Nascar, Safe Cracker, Addams Family, and Monster Bash (not in order).

Hi, Drew and welcome to PN! I've never played a real-life Monopoly table, but based on the VP version, it's relatively fun, but I don't think it holds up as well as TOM, which is one of my all-time favs. I used to work at a bar where it was featured and spent a lot of time (and quarters) on it! If you have any say in what tables to choose, shoot for some of those great '90s Bally/Williams machines, like Attack from Mars or Star Trek:TNG... and have fun playing!

Monopoly is veeery bouncy in real life.
The ball will pretty much bounce around the flipper off of the top points of the slingshots and will often exit the left outlane backwards through the left inlane. The ball is very hard to hook on this table. A change of rubbers may cure the bounciness.
It is fun, but lacks flow and the shots are moderately obtuse, not direct-line flipper shots, not at all easy and the shots that are direct line like the right-side Ramp are difficult due to the bounciness. The Railroad ramp near the bottom is a Fast loop and you can easily drain the ball on a direct shot (TIP: Hold the Left Flipper up when making this shot, but the ball will still be bouncy and difficult on return). I've never won a score replay on it.

TOM is one of my favorites too, as is Judge Dredd.
Both of those machines have good flow and reasonable player control without sacrificing the challenge of the game.

Hell, I've never won a replay on the VP version of it... and that's a pretty rare thing! The railroad ramp's speed held over well in the conversion... lost a lotta balls on that one!

Tip: Hold the Left Flipper in the Up position when making the Railroad Ramp shot... Yes.

Or do what I do in the VPM version. Use a backflip from the Left Flipper to make that shot, then just hold it up.

When the BANK door is open, just keep making the Ramp behind the door over and over and over. That will get you past Go and enable Multiball. Then make the ball locks again using the BANK Ramp behind the door, then the Right Ramp to start Multiball.
