New downloads policy at Rogue

I decided to make a change at Rogue regarding downloads. Everyone joins (like most sites) and never participates, only joining for downloads. I decided to change that this year.

Are you still in to pinball there, duderino? I think I used to have a connection on FB, but you faded away or something.

But yeah, this kind of issue goes way back to almost the dawn of the VP scene, i.e. "what people want" versus "what they're willing to contribute." Welcome to that not-so-exclusive club of dealing with the harshness of reality. :D

I'm still alive, for now.

I thought about doing this a couple years ago, but then thought I shouldn't have to "force" participation. I changed my mind and decided to pull the trigger this time. I figured if it worked, great. If it didn't, then why am I going through all this work for people who don't care? So far it's worked, I haven't gotten any "bogus" posts (posting for the sake of posting). Still, it's not like I'm charging for anything. Even if the posts are just for appearances, I still feel better someone is contributing.

I haven't been around much because I got new job last July and had to put all my efforts into finding that new job, as my plant was closing. Despite the stress, I miss that old job. I'm still in transportation, but I don't drive anymore. I went out on top too. Despite 25 years and 1.7 million miles I had a blank CSA score. Lower than zero. If I had gotten my license that day, that's what my record was like for 25 years.

I occasionally get some commercial vp work (gasp). Not selling tables, but making a special ones.

Forgot to show you guys. This was another commissioned table. If you've seen the show then you'll love it. The graphics and sounds are courtesy of the TNT network. I was commissioned by a cabinet maker to make a game for Comicon last summer, and he wanted an Impractical Jokers cab. So he made the graphics for an Impractical Jokers cabinet. Then he got the TNT network execs involved and they designed the playfield and backbox graphics, as well as gave me sound clips from the show to use.

The irony here is I'm sure you've seen the layout is the same. I designed this table when I found a "Good Taste of Beer" backglass. I designed an EM table for that backglass. I've made Absolut, Impractical Jokers, and Actosoft from it, but still have yet to make The good taste of beer. Maybe someday.....

And they said you can't make it big in vp...

And here I was, about to say congrats on holding the one job for quite a while...turns out you had to go hunting again! Well, congrats on finding yet another...

I think, the point is that beer tastes better in glass than in plastic, right?

Thanks! Yeah, I've had some bad situations in the last 5 years which have prompted changes. The last place I was at was hard. I had 100 people to manage, I worked 16 hour days, 6 days a week, there was a lot of stress- and I loved it. Then GM pulled their contract and my place closed... Which prompted my latest change. Now I work for a tanker company in the office (never drove tanker in all of my career).

I'm not a fan of GM (classic only) because of what they put us through. Calling them Govt Motors is VERY apt because of their procedures. I had a 10 page document on my desk called "Boundary Samples". That's a 10 page document to tell me if a part in a box "may" be damaged... When I started there was so much paperwork for a driver to deliver a part to a dealer they were literally buying drivers rubber stamps. Can't make a delivery? That's a form. Can't pickup a part because the paperwork isn't right? No, you can't leave a note- that's a form too (I was in charge of driver/warehouse training). They had so many forms even they couldn't keep track. And we wonder why they were bailed out....

On a side note I'm hoping this place is it for me. Many people have been here 10-20 years+, and the guy I'm replacing is retiring at the end of the year. He started as a driver in 1973.

So, I suppose that GM's desertion took place before Pres. Trump's economic miracles kicked in, keeping you from experiencing the joy?

I get a kick out of Wal-mart being among the first to pay bonuses, etc, while Sam's Club (same company, just different) closes umpteen stores...

Yeah that's kind of fucked up. Clearly the bonuses were a distraction to draw attention from the closings.

My place upped their 401k contribution from 2% to 4% and didn't close anything.
