One glaring problem with this gameroom. Dude's poured some money into this... I'm betting that ping pong table cost more than my last car... but check out the ancient TV in the upper right-hand corner! Guess he had to go to the Salvation Army for the boob tube after spending all that money on the fish tanks!

What would you call it?
Dark floors, darker trim, wainscoting, and large crown molding. It's obviously a craftsman style structure and these belong in a classic style with higher ceilings.

Patch is right. A room that large with ceilings that low, not to mention the large crown (again) should be a darker color. The right dark color would make it virtually disappear.

I'm guessing it's a light ceiling to conserve electricity/lighting costs,
or to make the illumination softer and more ambient.
And there might be dimmer circuits on those ceiling lamps?

What is the source of these pictures? Some folks may want the lighter ceiling
for ambient / bounce lighting because the room itself is available for movie shoots.

first of all those huge fish tanks are way too close to the pool tables
I have seen many a ball go flying off the end bumpers
at speeds great enough to shatter a fish tank!
and no pins make what would be a great game room only mediocre
nice ping pong top though for that far table
so where is this room again? if looks like either a private club
or part of a hotel (looking in the back there is another room with a couch and pillows)

Yeah. There is a lot of money here, no doubt about it. Just too eclectic for my taste. Bold classic crown on a low ceiling with can lights, speaker grills, and air returns. I think it's a mistake.

faralos, when they invest that kind of money in something like that, they usually aren't dropping the stuff in piece-by-piece like a young kid high on monopoly bills. my money says the fish tanks have the standard plexiglass (or other) sheeting as a 2nd or 3rd protective layer.


interesting comments, though. the thing that initially attracted me, which was the only critical impetus for this thread, was the lightness and airiness combined with wood grains and earth colors. that, and the beautiful offset of the fishy blues and the otherworldliness of that undersea world.

i don't give a rat's ass about the hypothetical missing pinball machine, but like i said earlier, that ping pong table is good-looking but a total joke. no person that i had the least respect for would i permit to ruin themselves on that abomination.

but yea, interesting comments. pretty cool hearing other peoples' design wishes and critiques for the perfect game room and all that stuff.
at least, that's the line my PR dept came up with!
