Pachinko anyone?

Hey everyone. I've been a pachinko enthusiast for a few years now and was wondering if anyone else caught the addiction :D Here's a video of some of my collection:

i used to have a simple one as a kid. i love the design and cultural aspect of pachinkos, but as an adult i'm not sure what i'd do with them other than to make an interesting wall-hanging or similar. if i was a collector of stuff i could see it, but i'm not a collector of things anymore.

beacuse without that game-playing aspect of painstakingly adjusting your aim / weight of balls in the machine and dispensor in order to win prizes, what is the motivation for an american to spend many hours playing a pachinko?

don't get me wrong- i do think that pachinkos are gorgeous / interesting as objects.

It's completely understandable. I love Japanese culture and I just find pachinko's to be a lot of fun. Some of the more modern ones have various mini-games involved with winning too which is pretty cool. I'll have to take a look in the download area

i kind of liked the pachislot aspect of the pachinko game in MAME... i think it was called "sexy reaction". if you scored a lot of points you'd get treated to some animated cheesecake or something...

I have both of them. The game is called Pachinko Sexy Reaction. There's 1&2. Yes, they do have plenty of cheesecake on them. I have beaten both games. I do like Pachinko myself, just never owned one. Haven't been that lucky, I guess.:)

I own this Pachinko game and have recreated it for VP (VP game screenshot) below.... I took pics of the wings opening, etc. to make it look and react just like my real one. Nice job if I must say so myself. :) You can download it here in the Pachinko download section and there is a nice Pachinko history that you can read on the left side of the table as you play the game....

i have an idea about one of your modern machines and bob that... hmm, maybe i should save it for a PM.

one of my fantasies going on five years now is to emulate tsukuda pachinko handheld game. do you know it? the guy at this site has two units and at one time offered to lend me one to emulate, but he never followed through:

it's supposedly one of the greatest handheld games ever made, is very rare, and costs much whenever someone offers one online. on ebay and craig's list all i've seen so far are purchases made in the past... never current. T_T

hmm... never seen that handheld before. I was actually thinking about taking a crack at programming a modern machine if that's what you were hinting at :D. one thing i've noticed is the balls don't emulate the gravity right. I have no experience with visual pinball programming but I might take a look at it this week.

oh, cool. and many people around here could help if you ran into problems with the programming.

as for gravity, the default has the balls behaving like pinballs.
for pachinko, set "table slope" to 20 or something like that, then go into backdrop mode and set "inclination" to zero.

If you check my Pachinko table, you'll see the slope is set at 90 degrees and the inclination at zero.... Kind of makes sense when you think about it.
