Pin Cabinet users - how to capture plunger pull back

Looking at the other thread about Future Pinball with Pinscape FRDM-KL25Z got me curious -- how can FP script figure out that an "analog" plunger is pulling back the plunger?

I see that analog plunger events come through as keyboard events for KeyPressed only the KeyReleased.

Is there other ways maybe through BAM to get plunger pull back info for analog cabinet plungers?

That's what I wondered.

I think (based upon the FP documentation) that the 3D plunger model is visually being adjusted when the cabinet's physical plunger is being pulled/moved via joypad interface? Can anyone confirm that?

I wonder if BAM could be helpful here by somehow letting me query the X/Y/Z position of the plunger model in the physics-tick event as a result.

Many pinballFX (as well as Maxis's Full Tilt tables) do some neat effects on the plunger pull back which it would be great to have that in FP and not have cabinet users missing out.

The FP version of Stern's Indiana Jones has a modified plunger that uses a different model of the plunger.

I add JP's version of the plunger to all my tables like Road Runner. It doesn't look any different but it performs differently. I have gotten no complaints about it from cabinet users.
