Yes, I know that this is the wrong forum, but could this stay here?

Anyway, some of you might have noticed I am now uploading to PN.

Pinball music, to be more accurate.

computerfrk1 and I have planned to collaborate in the future.

Single files at mediafire.com/themcd - tell me what you think.

Thanks for the music TheMcD!

As you noted, compterfrk1 uploaded a bunch of these last year and we have a mp3 player that was setup a long time ago but it was a pain to add songs to it, it required manually editing playlist files and the uploading of the mp3's. It was impossible for regular users to add mp3's.

Here is a link to the old mp3 player:

I don't know if either of you would be interested with a mp3player approach in addition to the download system and have been trying to figure out the best way to implement a good system so any feedback is appreciated, there are a lot of options but yesterday i installed a Forums based mp3 system that would allow the linking of mp3's into a player by Users. The individual mp3's would still have to be uploaded somewhere on a server (can be Pinball Nirvana or elsewhere).

Here is a link to the new player, it's currently linked in the navigation bar at the top of the forums, Mp3 Player.

There is also Auto Media Embedding software on the forums, it should embed any mp3 but i need to test the linking and see if an attachment can be added to the new player.
Hope that makes sense...
Testing AME with a simple link to an mp3 file:
Code:
http://www.pinballnirvana.com/mp3player/musics/Twister.mp3
http://www.pinballnirvana.com/mp3player/musics/Twister.mp3

I'm also going to add a mp3 as an attachment and see if it can be linked into the new program..

Well, i linked to the AFM Attack Wave attachment into the new mp3 player and it worked, from everything I've read i didn't expect it to.

Link location in the new mp3player:
Code:

Another option would be to link to mp3's from the UpDownload system, i uploaded a test .mp3 and that works as well but it would require the files to be individual mp3's, no zips, etc.

Well, I'm having enough problems getting all the files up at the two hosts, but anybody who wants to can d/l my files and upload them here as single files.

You might want to open up a subdirectory in the "Recorded Music", JPH.

I plan on updating the old files sometime after the new year once I get a few things straightened out. The old files were made when I had my 400 MHz Celeron processor now I have a 5.6GHz Dual Core AMD so it should sound a lot better.

@The McD Using the record feature in PinMAME32 is rather an unrealistic approcah since the file sizes could be too big for download I would suggest using a secondary sound recorder to do your music files because not everyone has Hi Speed internet.

Whaddaya mean the files are too big? I convert them to mp3s with a constant bitrate of 96kb/s - that makes up for about a meg per song, maximum two.

Recording in PinMAME32 is the best way to go since it eliminates all these annoying distortions in sound (like for example in your Hook file) - the size is adjustable with the bitrate and the length of the songs.

Yeah, a very good question indeed! I'd love to put some of those SFX as Windoze event noises. (Example: For the Windows Critical Stop alert, I'd like to use Secret Service's "YOU TILTED!" sample)

Yeah, that's the best bet. The internal PinMAME32 sound controller/recorder can sometimes be a real son of a bitch to handle, recognizing one press of F5 as two presses (i.E: start recording and instantly stop recording). It doesn't show that it's recording, so I wait 1 or 2 minutes and stop the recording (starting it in the process). If you wanted to get sounds, go with Audacity, although PinMAME32 still is a must, just for the sound controller. Press F4 or F6, I forget, to change into the controller mode. Then press DELETE to change into manual mode, since the organized mode was a nice addition, but barely worked out. There you have a ton of zeroes, just put a 1 in at the end and press ENTER. You now have started the first sound in the ROM, just most of the times that's empty. So keep working forward and don't forget that A to F count as digits too. When you hit 0000000f, go to 00000010 and so on. If you hit 100 at the end, you can usually stop, I don't think that much new stuff will come.

So that was my trade in a nutshell.
