I've been feeling like shit all day, things upside-down and all and an eye infection that won't quit,
so I reached back in time for some spiritual re-fortification.

This is "Pipeline" by The Chantays, and some very interesting shots of wave ridin'. Please folks. Post your favorite Dick Dales, Ventures, surfside or dancing on the volcano un guitar fiero, or Sleepwalk. But no death metal, prog, new shit today. Please.

Sorry to hear that.

Well well, another beautiful black box. But recently I -did- figure out how to extract the missing youtube URL with the "inspect element" tool in FF. So a little sleuthing reveals: omG-hZfN6zk

Where's my prize! :D

Anyway, guess I'll go with the KITH theme...

Whoops! I forgot. Well, I dang fixed it. :)

Brain Candy feels Good!

A little uremia thanks to hazing tricks gone wild. Sleep deprivation.
So, two glasses of warm water, some barf by gagging. Else the solar plexus reflex is locked up.

Some Phillips Milk of Magnesia (not laxative-level; just two teaspoons, one every three hours with a glass of water for the magnesium due to losses caused by the uremia). Uremia dehydrates, causing a chemical variant of a "heat stroke".

Some hash brown potatoes (fresh only; to carry out the remaining uremia).

A bowl of corn flakes in warm water with a pinch of salt, for the vitamin depletion due to the uremia; mostly for the Vitamin A and Riboflavin depletion which is affecting the eye issues. Red Eye = Riboflavin deficiency.

Now I'm only half-assed, but the entertainers are still banging...Da Nyet!

Shadowy Men! I saw them open up for The Fleshtones in Lawrence, KS once upon a long ago. They did a medley of surf-flavored classic rock songs... a fine performance!

mmmmm...Beach Monster Good!

Looks like, for this next song, we gotta do it the old-fashioned way. Not surprising that Youtube doesn't have this one. I picked it up many moons ago from some music blog. If I've got my facts straight I think the group is from 1960s Cambodia... maybe Vietnam, but I'm 90% it's Cambodian... and, brother, can they rock and roll! What a great guitar riff! It's like a surf song crossed with the James Bond soundtrack, topped with some rockin' female vocals (from Catherine, I'm assuming). For me, that's quite a feat. I can think of plenty Western '60s bands that can't do what these guys are doing!

That's a whole lot of Monty Norman there, but the "Bond" riff originated in the late 30's. I heard it on a classic swing/big band A.M. station in the 80's.

They also played a Bing Crosby big band tune once, from 1928, and it was Exactly similar to Pete Townshend's "Face the Face", so I consider the Crosby tune to be very much a roots of rock tune, albeit, a boogie number. As a composition, it sounded just as new to me as the Townshend recording. But I haven't been able to find that one.

I don't think der Binger qualifies as a "roots rock" artist. Especially since the Townshend song reflects the "trad jazz" movement in the '50s. During the same pre-rock doldrums in which America was listening to Patti Page ask how much the doggie in the window is, the Brits were boogieing to traditional jazz bands (which, despite being pretty boring, is still better than Patti Page). And Townshend wasn't the only Brit rocker "of a certain age" looking backward to the trad jazz they grew up around.

That Ray Davies, he's a tall dude, isn't he?

EDIT: I'm sure there's a conflicting story about that song It could pass for an easy Salsa Mariachi dance tune. But the story probably calls it a Skiffle with reflection on his parents. But I'm not making claims on that one.
Or this one. But I like it!:

Would that be like walking on water?

Hey! No Nick Cave in my country? Screw you, Youtube! Fortunately, I think I remember the song. From the Murder Ballads CD, if I remember correctly, and this song has the lowest body count of any on the album.

PS: Congratulations, Steve! I knew it was only a matter of time before you posted a Kylie Minogue song! Otherwise, you'd sort of be like an American who doesn't know the words to the Star Strangled Bammer. Which, sadly, probably means "most of them".

Aw Heck, Bill. We all know the words to The Star Strangled Bammer.
Those words give us the power to screw you smack dead into the ground, and you, and you, and me no different, in the name of The People.
