Polybius anyone?

Some of you all may have seen or played this before, it's a early style arcade video game called 'Polybius'.
It appears these guys made this game along with a fictious story (http://www.joltcountry.com/polybius.html) to promote it or just to have some fun with it. A side from the stories behind it, it does warn you about flashing lights etc. which can lead to visual overload, eye strain and headaches. That part they're not lying about.
The game looks to be a cross between asteroids and the tempest. The visual effect has what you could say is a twilight zone experience.

Using vista... I searched for this file 'd3drm.dll' in my system and place it in the same folder as the .exe to avoid an error message.

i have been lightly following this story for years. there never was a polybius game, or at least sufficient evidence to substantiate it. the game above is not a port, but a mockup of what the original game was described as based on someone's imagination.

interestingly, one of the agents of the polybius hoax was active at VPF for a while and re-created one of the strangest EM's of all time in VP- a german game with 10 balls from the 70's or thereabouts. in the script he included one of the most unusual (propaganda?) manuals you'll ever see attached to the game of pinball, called "seedware".

Is it a port? Did the game ever exist to begin with?
Those are the questions I thought of while I read about it.
From what I read there's no proof of anything, that's why I tend to believe the whole thing was made up just for kicks.

seedware? That sounds like some sort of alien virus that will consume your computer. :)
It would be interesting to see that table, someone must have it, locked away some wheres.

found it... the guy's handle is cyberyogi and the game is "jimmy das gummipford" or something like that. but it's from the 50's, not 70's.

IRP has it, or the guy's site appears to be still online:
