Bally Pool Sharks (Bally, 1990) problem

Hi all, Totally new and a complete novice not even sure if this is the correct place to post, I am asking/wondering if anyone has a Pool Sharks or single ball machine that can shed a little light on a problem that has just surfaced.
The machine notices the ball missing on start up even though its in the trough & relay 1 on Aux driver is clicking in & out.. If you remove the ball to the shooter lane the game will allow play but as soon as the ball is lost or goes into a out hole the relay just clicks in/out again and the ball don't come out...any help would be gratefully received

have you tried to look thru the manual yet for answers?

Ipdb stand for International pinball data base
and there is where you will find some helpful info on pins
everything except gottlieb manuals which that company says to post them is breaking

Manual

Hi friend, Yes I have had a brief look but to be honest its like reading a dif' language ..I just wondered if it was a standard fault that someone may of come across.

the manual says that the machine is a single ball machine, the second ball is a spare. so 2 balls should be in the trough for proper operation, because there are 2 through switches. does this sound correct? is 1 ball MIA in the playfield somewhere? and check trough switches,wires off , diode connections. check switches in the switch test part of the self test diag.

Yeah that makes sense Dave, there was only one ball when I got the game and have only played it a few dozen times as the left display was knackered & was waiting on a new set. I am a total novice but in Diagnostics it says Malfunction then in switch tests it honks at me an shows top hole, now there was a slight pop out on this hole sometimes taking two or three attempts before this problem to lob the ball out, Ive got as far as locating the plug an pin to the solenoid and there's 35dcv on it but that's as far as I have got lol (it all takes time when ya aint got a clue lol ).
