Riots in London

This totally took me by surprise. The reports are that the riots are occurring over a shooting and aggravation over cuts in Public Service and unemployment.

To anyone from London, what is your take on the situation and are rising prices a factor? In the States the price of food is definitely up as is the price of our indulgences, alcohol and tobacco.

And did the cops shoot the victim or was it someone else and what was going on with the victim prior to the shooting that he is considered to be part of a cause for unrest?

this was caused by the police - as usual.

they have a deathsquad called so19 that stalks "suspects" and shoots then at the slightest excuse - or without one it seems.

this time they pulled the guy out of a cab onto the floor and put 2 hollowpoints in his chest - then lied about a gunfight.

the next day a bunch of these "brave men" beat down a 16year old girl.

put simply - we've had enough with being treated like palastinians.

standard police behaviour in the u.k. is to try to provoke people so they can arrest them.
this usually involves atleast 3 police to one person - and they try to get behind them to throw them on the floor - i see it several times a week.

bottom line - the police treat the public like the enemy, and the public have decided that it goes both ways.

they are driving about in a few light-apc's today.
that wont help then if someone drives a short and heavy truck into the side of them - like a cement-mixer!

a bit extra - background to u.k. policing.

regular police dont have guns - only chemical weapons (high concentration CS in liquid-form) & batons of various types.

guns are not legal here for the public either.

if they suspect someone has a gun, they just call so19 who afaik just drive around waiting for a call.
so19 have glocks, mp5's, a few have mp7's and they have sniper riffles - all in the car.
they also have tazers - but only use them on unarmed people.

There are a lot of "little" local things going on Stateside that you never hear about.

Have you heard the news on T.V. that talks about riot in London? Well, in the news, they have mentioned that Rioters and looters have been destroying everything in England. Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged a relief fund of 20 million pounds to help affected business owners. The continued looting and pillaging might cost more than 100 million pounds altogether. That is about $300 million U.S. A lot of problems are facing by the government, they need to do something in order to stop this kind of war because if they won't do anything for sure it will bring more and more problems in the future. Prime minister pledges relief fund for shops hit by London's riots.

yeah like senseless beating as or extra tazings I once saw a black man in Philly get four tazes! not one but four all at the same time? is that really necessary? two maybe but four? I was surprised his heart didn't stop right then and there! he went down about as fast as you could expect... unconscious all the way down too slamming his face onto the pavement pretty hard. I was shooed away (for presumably gawking) so I could not see any more torure being done to him but that was enough and these types of things never get written about as it happens on a daily basis here.
God Bless this 'free' (police state since some cities already have curfews) country of ours(?)
