Williams Solved Rollergames (Williams, 1990) kicker repair question

I'm repairing a Rollergames machine and can't quite solve last problem. The right kicker/slingshot won't activate. When pushed, the switches register points, but the solenoid doesn't activate the kicker. I tested solenoid, and it's good. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Q6 is it’s driver transistor. Test it with dmm and check it for cracked solder connections.

I tested transistor, and it seemed ok. But I replaced Q6 TIP36 anyway, and .... same thing. When the ball hits kicker, the switch registers points but the solenoid doesn't fire kicker.

Using a jumper wire Have you tried to jump the tab of the driver transistor to ground? This will test the the coil, wiring, and the board traces to the jack. If the coil fires properly the problem is before the driver transistor. Does the coil fire in coil self test?

No; the coil does not fire in the coil self test. But after seeing that initially, the first thing I did was to replace the coil. So there is a new coil there, but still doesn't fire.

I was looking at the user manual again, and I see that there are 2 Q6 transistors. One one the cpu and one on the auxiliary power driver board. I switched out the one on the power driver board, but now I'm thinking I should be looking at the cpu.

Just to close the loop on this; I did switch out the Q6 transistor on the CPU, and ... voila - slingshot kicker is slingshotting and kicking! Pinballdaveh: thanks very much for the advice!
