Hello, I'm on my way to simulate a ball on a chain for JunkYard.. general idea and rolling a ball in a "half sphere" saucer.

Demi.png

attach a chain the same way terry does in his "starwars" table with BB8's head. Only I know that the chain will only be attached to the ball but I think the result could be cool.

imagine that the half-sphere is transparent. To simulate a ball strike, apparently, it would be enough to put a drop target in the center to activate the magnets on the side of the mini playfields. yes the half-sphere has no collision and yes it seems rather messy.

Well, if you have a better idea, I won't moderate it. I can send the table to those who want to test the rendering only for the moment with nuge

here is the rendering that it can give. I would like to know if anyone could know if it is possible to attach the other end of the chain to an object or if there is a better way to achieve my goals.

I attached a couple of versions to a private message where the wrecking ball works pretty well. I think they work better than the ones in the videos you posted. Check your inbox.

I came up with a different solution for this table a number of years ago .... rav helped me with the chain simulation .
As I recall we used a large invisible captive ball (like in Cirqus Voltaire but invisible) and attached a dummy ball and chain to that.
Rav provided the code that kept the upper chain to a pinpoint area....

It worked very well I think ... I will see if I can find it so you can compare

Addendum :
Here it is , I modded the version from RWL

yes thank you someone has already directed me towards this table which I find good. Well, Rav's code is too high level for me, but I kinda understand how he did it. I upgraded the table to fizX3 and modified the right ramp or junction a little.
thank you very much guys for your responses.

I didn’t know our version ever posted before
Oh I see George had a copy

@Gimli
I see that it is not available in your resources? too bad this very beautiful work. In short, thank you for sharing too, it will surely make people happy.

My Pleasure !
Thanks for updating the physics !

Feel free to mod this table further and post it under yourself if you wish with credits to GhostMachine, RWL, Gimli and Ravarcade
I think I obtained updated models ( Dog , and Bus from Whitey Weiseman...)

I believe the story of this development started with GhostMachine who very rapidly constructed the table and posted it ( in less than one week, as was his habbit at that time ), with essentially no code.

Then later RWL worked on it and I believe posted it but the Chain Mechanism wasn't working.

Then I worked on the swinging chain mechanics which interestingly is upside down to the swinging Jester Clown guy that I worked on for Circus Voltaire. LOL . They both took different paths ultimately , but it was all around the same time.

coincidently Junk Yard and Cirqus Voltaire are both tables that RWL did a lot of work on....

I had youtube videos on this stuff that either stale dated or I deleted....I am not sure.

GhostMachine qui a très rapidement construit la table et l’a postée
yes I noticed... sometimes it seems to me to be done with an axe. I use the "Align to nearest mm" option and I move using the keyboard arrows, it helps a lot. In short, if I post the version I send you, it can always be further improved.

Oh ya I realized that you can raise the wrecking ball as needed throughout the game. Rav also provided code for that.
See the videos and the demo table below. If you press "u" on the keyboard in the demo it raises/lowers the ball.

if you press "b" on the keyboard in my junkyard version it does the same. In your fizX mod it doesn't work due to the ball mass (it just needs tweaking). I believe the actual pin has times when the wrecking is up and sometimes it is down....
