I liked your post, but, what I mean is valid for all sites, what is really valid is the number of active users who post messages, ask for help, ...
I was member Oct 17, 2004... And I was moderator for the FP section. But as I prefer to be a member of only one forum and as on PN there wasn't much activity (for FP), I left PN and therefore I am no longer a moderator for the FP section (and I don't I'm not sadder than that). GoPinball closed and a lot of the FP community came here, so I followed...
But, long life to PN

Now I am an Administrator on the longest running Virtual Pinball site, that just celebrated it's 21st Anniversary!
So lets not discount these people who do not post messages, or ask for help.
They are just as important as other members!

About 5,000 members have signed up in the last 10 months or less.
That is a 6th of our members!

Not sure about VPU, but VPForums has 178,869.
I would say alot of those are double (maybe even 3x,4x,5x) names, to circumvent the 5 downloads a day limit per non paying member.
This site has never had any download limits.
So there is no need to sign up with a bunch of new names here.

I"ve to disagree with you. A lot of people just sign for a site to take the tables and run. No post, no comments (only if they have a problem with tables), sorry, for me, they are just +1 for the number of members.

We have also spam cleaned 1,360 names since Jan 30th 2020. (This is as far back as it goes since the server change.)
Most were spam cleaned as they signed up. (We have great security protocols here!)
It is our mission to keep this site safe, so all members can enjoy their experience here!

I just did a search on VPU. They have 69,982 members. I suspect there are folks who are joining just so they have membership on all 3 sites. I have to say that this site performs better than the other sites and also has better text editing options.

We are also the only site that has Prefixes and relevant Tags on all of the table download pages!

True. I think they have tags but they are not very consistently applied like the way that you monitor and control them.

I used to be happy about this site and IRPinball not needing registration for users to be able to download stuff. IRP still doesn't require that and PN didn't for a really long time!

I'm not anxious. I was just curious where we stood with the other sites. We are the most advanced site. VPU is a little slow and you have to wait 45 seconds just to download a file if your not a paying member. VPForums has lost data last year and they still don't allow anyone to upload more than a 100 mb file when it used to be >400. They seem to have some sort of security issue.

New members here might be attracted to the FP archive that Charles transferred from PinSimDB. I haven't been monitoring the number of downloads. PinSimDB used to get a lot of traffic even though it was less advanced than any of the sites.

What is the competition? We are happy here (and sorry, you are also in an other site...), so what?
And you just speak about FP not VP.
So, as you, I upload my tables on VPForums (why?).
And my beloved IRPinball (without forum, what a pleasure!).

I don't view it as a competition between sites.
The way I look at it, all of the legit Virtual Pinball sites are like one big family.
Each site has its Pros and Cons, but I agree with George. Our site here has implemented many things that other sites do not have.
Sure the sites have squabbles just like any family has, but we all have one thing in common, our love for Pinball!
