Williams Strato-Flite (Williams, 1974) knocker questions

Knocker is not activating while in "extra ball" mode, I assume it should. Will first have to check if solenoid is getting power, I believe it is. Schematic shows Jack Layout in position "PAN-INS", which I think is the inside cabinet, size 24 in poistion #7. Is anyone familiar with this part of the schematic & knows what it means? No other reference is made to the knocker. Any infor is helpful, thanks.

2 and 4 player machines are different from single player machines because they can not be add a ball just extra ball. so the adj. jacks are for replay/extra ball. and only 1 extra ball can be awarded per ball in play even if you get multi levels of score awards you will only get 1 extra ball if the jack is set in the extra ball position. the knocker circuit is from a slam switch to the 25 cent coin door NC (normally closed) MB (make-break) switch to NC MB switches on the 25 cent and 10 cent relays to one side of the knocker coil. the other side of the knocker coil goes to a add replay unit EOS switch to complete the circuit. so the knocker will only fire when the replay unit advances. if the jack is set for extra ball instead of replay the knocker will never fire. i don't know what that PAN-INS is or where it was found on the schematic.

Thanks pbdave, Interesting. I noticed that the knocker is not receiving any electrical current when tested w/Volt meter. Noticed two wires that are damaged on the add replay unit, so need to determine where they are supposed to terminate on either of the two solenoids. Afterwards, will need to further check the EOS switch - visually it looked fine, but might need adjusting. I did clean the mechanism on the add replay unit and replaced the two sleeves on solenoids...that seemed to have at least freed up the mechanism which was sticking a bit. One odd thing, when I changed the machine from extra ball mode to replay mode and did some testing, the game continued to award extra balls during play...not sure that is what it should be doing. Something else to investigate.

with the adj. jack set for replay its possible to get replays on scoring and match and still get extra balls because there is a extra ball shot via the left return lane rollover switch (see pic). if you can post a close up pic of the replay unit i might be able to figure out the damaged wire problem.

hopefully you can make out one of the wires is coming from the Reset Coil, it appears to be red w/yellow trace. The other wire comes from the Driver Coil, it appears to be black w/red trace. In the photo each wire seems to be cut, and not attached anywhere else. Thanks for the help.

the replay unit reset coil (smaller coil) has red/yellow on one lug and black(s) wires on the other lug. the replay unit step up coil has black/red one one lug and grey(s) wires on the other lug.
