Using 15 of my 20 starter templates, I have created fully commented demo tables, designed primarily for new authors or anyone not familiar with either flipperless, counter tops, or special feature flipperd tables. To reduce file size, I have stripped 14 tables of nearly all sounds and graphics. I left my Coppers Trade Stimulator intact as an example of what counter tops can be. Although I’m known as a flipperless author, there are 4 flippered tables that I have included. One is my mod of Java Jack’s free to mod template. There’s something for everyone is this zip.
Also included in the download zip is my Super Ball Pack, with 152 custom ball images and a primer on how to make your own. There is also a list of Key Codes, and a copy of the Visual Guide, which many new authors fail to use, and which can reduce your VP learning curve.
While this joins a ton of other demo templates, many of the others I’ve seen may be too advanced for many new authors if they have no programming experience. My Super Starter Kit isn’t meant to replace any other tutorials, simply to help get you started a bit easier.
My Super Ball Pack has 152 ball images, most of which are in BMP format. If any are still in jpg format, you will need to convert them to BMP. You can create your own custom ball images by distorting any 64 pixel by 64 pixel image and saving it to BMP format if it’s a jpg file. I use Paint Shop Pro, but nearly any paint program will allow you to alter images in a variety of ways. I have close to 400 ball images, about 40% which I have designed myself. Feel free to borrow any of these images for your own use, or better yet, use them as inspiration to design your own.
Most of my ball images began as ball images by other folks, and if any of those original images are included, that is an oversight on my part. While I have used many of my ball images on my tables and tables I’ve helped friends with, a few might not work very well. If that happens, you can either delete that image, or distort it even more and see if you can create another image that does work. Use any of these ball images as your own, and if you use more than just a few, a mention in your script notes would be nice, but it’s no big deal. Hope these help you be more creative.
Both can be downloaded here and soon at VPO:
