Our government is proposing a bill to shut down and completely eliminate websites that infringe on copyright properties, not only require websites to delete their infringing content, but to take them offline altogether.
The problem is, this has the effect of carrying over against all websites that may offend the government.

Oh yes it will happen. It's already happening with The PACT Act which prohibits the U.S. Postal System from delivering out-of-States tobacco purchases while at the same time requires collection of local State cigarette taxes by out-of-State merchants, and this Act then set the stage for subsequent behavior of the States forcing Amazon Taxes (local State taxes collected on behalf of the State where the customer resides) in support of these actions on all out-of-State purchases on products and services from sites such as amazon.com and all other out-of-State sites) or risk shutdown and penalties for the failure to collect those taxes on behalf of irresponsible local State governments who fail to represent and support the local responsibility for the trade, wants and needs, and fair, just taxation of The People in The First Person (We the Customers vs. Nanny Third Parties doing things against us for 'our own good' such as collecting outrageously unjust special taxes of which they themselves do not pay, for products which they do not use personally, and whom are unaffected by their prohibitive legislations except for their own financial enrichment).

And it does no good when the ISPs are owned by the likes of Time Warner, etc. with their media interests at the heart of it, let alone control of our local governments by them as special interest alliances (also prohibited at the State level by Our U.S. Constitution).

Hopefully if it comes to that, we will start another Occupy movement, but I have my doubts given The Amazon taxes enforced against Our Constitutional Rights by pigheaded States in the name of Third Party Special Interests.

I think our government don't know what they are doing. Just watch it will destroy jobs out there because of what they are doing. I'm afraid I'm going to lose my job over this mess.

Anyway what they are doing is going to fail big time. Even if they didn't mean to shut down their database to lose their money. xD

Wow my post gotten moved and deleted about this at the vpforums. I wonder why?

No political or religious posts are allowed @ vpforums, that's why. ;)

Very stupid law which I can only hope is not passed. If passed then it should be challenged and squashed in the Supreme Court as unconstitutional.

Yep, I can understand protecting the property Rights of copyright holders, but that should not be an excuse for shutting sites down completely, or as a springboard for violating other Rights.

Is there a private subforum for paying members over there? I see a Moved page but then the next page comes up as an invalid link with no explanations.

Yes there is the VIP Lounge @ vpforums but the thread in question was not moved there, it most likely has been moved to their moderators/admin forum section.

Ohhh...
You have to be A Major Dude there.

From what I've read about the law shutting down a site will not even require a court order, and a site could be shut down with no notice.

Sounds like the public hearing they had was a joke, they only invited one apposing party, Google. When questions about DNS came up no one in the room knew what DNS was...

The world would probably be better, in the long run, if re-engineering copyrighted stuff, was snuffed out, which is something everyone would agree is right, perhaps not when doing it, but certainly if it is their ip, but it would be a more boring world.

Licencing is always an option, though. The ip owner, and/or the company, if there is one, should have to be alive, but I doubt that they would put much though into enforcement. I also doubt that legit material will survive, if just one infraction was discovered. I don't fully support the idea, after all, most of my work in VP and games reproduction is recreations of work that at least at one time had copyright tagged. But I would understand if it was first hand complaint activated.
